Good Day Everyone!

Today I received an email from CIC notifying me that I have a message on MYCIC account. I am pleased to tell you that I have finally received the first update on my application. The email is requesting that I provide a RCMP Criminal Record Check. This is my current status:

Review of medical results : Passed (Feb 24th 2017)
Review of submitted documents: We need an additional document from the applicant (Feb 24th 2017)
Scheduling an interview : Not needed at this time
A background check is needed : In Progress (Feb 24th 2017)
Final Decision : Not Started

I have a question in regards to the RCMP CRC. I noticed that I have a place holder to upload the RCMP CRC, but I am not sure what I would need to upload. My understanding is that I go to a local police office, request the that a CRC is obtained. They take my fingerprints electronically and they file the application for the CRC for the purpose of Canadian Immigration. I thought that the RCMP office will send the CRC directly to IRCC, but what do I need to upload in that place holder?

I tired going to the local police office but it seems like the administrative staff is not there. I will try again later on today. (I live in a very small town)

Haha, hoping for a bunch of status changes to the ongoing background checks for the Jan AOR folk

Although I think my timeline is more in sync with the folk who got their meds passed Feb 20-22

If you are in Toronto, I suggest you to go to FIPS. You will receive RCMP document mailed to you in 1 week, which you can upload in your CIC account

why is it some people are requested to submit RCMP check and others aren't? it seems a bit of a money grab to me; surely it would come up in the background check if you had a criminal record check in Canada?

Not sure why they do, Its recommended to upload RCMP while submitting the profile to avoid any delays

it just seems completely random. Some people never upload nor get asked!

Yes true, there are no set procedures defined for this express entry yet. But to avoid the delays and add doc request, its better to submit intially

I think in the process of background check if they discover something they need confirmation for? Not sure what criteria flags an applicant

I am an inland CEC candidate and didn't know we do not need a Canadian PCC. I had gone ahead and got the police clearance certificate from Toronto Police (not the more intensive check RCMP fingerprint check). So I attached it in the PCC section nonetheless. That showed that I am all clear and have no record. But again, it is just the basic police clearance certificate so I may still be asked for an RCMP fingerprint check

Well I didn't know that we even needed a PCC for Canada, so knowing my luck I'll be asked to get one and have my application delayed :-X

I went to FIPS and got my RCMP. I hope they dont ask it for you, I assume it completely depends on VO/Agent
