Background Check -> NA 28th April

Anyone sharing the same timeline ?

Mine is relatively similar, I'm FSWO however so you'll probably have a shorter wait the rest of the way.

Few questions:

1. My application is at CPC Ottawa - can applications still be rejected at this stage?
2. My bg status hasn't yet gone to not applicable. If I recall correctly, it followed the following path:
No background check required -> next step is to conduct a background check -> we are processing your background check (after my medical passed and they requested for RCMP)
Is that normal/ typical?

Info:
VO: Ottawa
CEC inland
ITA: Jan 4
Aor: feb 19
Meds passed: mar 23
Rcmp request: mar 23

The possibility is very minimal to get rejected after your R10 is complete and file has been transferred to CPC from CIO.
The only reason the file may get rejected if one is a security risk or threat to national security.

BG Check statuses are different in different cases, so do not worry about that. Always keep an eye on your primary email as PPR comes in email without anything changing on MYCIC.

Good luck

GCMS notes are basically a copy of your file from the immigration office (or at least this is what I understood).

From what I could see, it is also not something easy to understand, it has a lot of codes on it, but there are some topics here that could help you understand (at least that is my hope). Since I did not see any movement on my application since day one I decided to ask for the notes to see if I can get any information from it.

Those are examples of topics from where you can get more information:

Need advice on the following: I want to update my email address ( as my current email address which is an alumni email is having server issues). Should I raise a CSE for the same or can I just update the email in the online profile (where it asks you where they should contact you)?

Congrats for the pprs today !!

My background check is still at " next step is to check background" since medicals passed on 14th march. I mailed them at cpc ottawa and they replied your file is at our office and we are processsing according to normal timelines. Rep on phone told me that we didnt have started anything in your file yet. Is that considerable and do they have access ?

Eligibility and security not started, medical and criminal past march 28. Additional document submitted march 22ed

Hi Everyone,

My AOR is of February 3 and my medical passed, IP(1) in progress since March 3rd. I am CEC inland.

In April, I left Canada for 3 weeks, went back home where I got married. Now I have 2 questions.

1. Should I inform CIC that I left Canada for three weeks or not? Are they able to find out by themselves? If they do, will they consider it misrepresentation?

2. Should I inform CIC now that I got married or wait until after I get my PR? My wife does not have a passport yet, so it will take at least two more months before we can arrange all documents required to apply for her PR application.
