The pattern is different for different streams, maybe. In our case (FSWO mid Feb and March) the applications start with CPC Sydney and then CIO Sydney. I am not sure if they are different but that the reply I got. In any sense of the word CEC is much faster. Good Luck CEC folks !
Good luck to u too buddy :D

CEC Stream

AOR: Feb 1st, 2017
Medical Passed: Feb 27, 2017
BG IN PROCESS: Feb 28, 2017
ADR Travel History: March 31st, 2017
Travel History Document submission: April 2nd, 2017

AOR: 17/02/2017

My Background check status changed to "Your application is in progress. The next step is to conduct a background check" on 02/04/2017.
But my Medicals Still shows " You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes."

Is it normal?

Does the request specify which visa office has requested for the additional documents??

I am FSW-O with AOR 19 Feb...

My status changed to Med Passed on 31/03.

The next day my BGC went from: Not applicable -> Your application is in progress. Next step is a background check. And it is that way since then.

Is this the first IP(1) status that people get? Or is this before that? What will the status change to now: Not needed / not applicable after this??

Thank you all for your insights on the forum!!!

It is normal. That happened to me. I got BG status changed on the 18th, and MED's status changed 3 days after.

Cheers.

Hey andy108,

How much time does it takes in days to see the change in BGS?

My current status is Your application is in progress. The next step is to conduct a background check.

I tried checking the tracker but hardly got anything as I was trying to see how mnay days after meds it takes to see change in BGS -> PPR :(
Regards
Kevin
