Once you send in your passport for visa stamping, you will recieve a paper called, "COPR: confirmation of PR".
Then you have to go border, where CBSA officer will complete your last formalities and grant you your PR.
After 80 calendar days you will recieve your PR at the Candian address you had provided to the CBSA officer.
After which, you can travel freely in and out of the country provided you maintain your PR status.

It will be automatically applied on your behalf by the CBSA office after he has completed your landing formalities.
