Folks this is just for clarification
My Medicals passed on Apr 20th but my BG status is
'Your application is in progress. The next step is to conduct a background check'
this is NBG right ?? Does anyone else have the same status as me ?

As per the tracker most folks have the status as IP(1) hence wanted to clarify .

This is indeed IP1 . As before it used to say ' Background check not applicable. For you, it says that your background check is in process.

But I saw in Whatsapp group today that someone's status after Medical passed is

Background check - 'We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information'
and this was referred as IP1 by that person hence wanted to clarify

PS: I have submitted the RCMP upfront

Oh So, for you the IP1 is not started yet. Wait for a day or 2, it might change at later stages. CIC Visa officers apparently don't seem to follow a specific trend while updating.
