Guys, I am at my last few days towards 180 days. Security not even started. Still at NA. I guess mine will pass that 180 day.......

Last one came in May. Not much progress, RCMP from other country asked in March, BCPNP inland

Talked to an agent earlier today, said... the security background check is still pending, we can't move on the application unless we hear from them. Earlier in the month another agent told me that I should expect an update at the end of the month. Guess it was just a statement to calm my nerves back then.

Basically the agent implied today that, they don't know when there will be an update on my application. So I should probably forget about the status update now.

I am very sorry to you, to me and all of others especially december applicants.

But we have to live on and patiently wait for the closure of this process. Please don't let this affect you like how it did to me. Oh... It was very ugly.
 
Just to update you guys on my case. I emailed the office in Ottawa. The auto-reply said the response is within 20 working days. Though they responded in less than a day extending the duration 30 more days to send them my passport.

Well it is not affecting me at the moment but it is certainly disrupting my future plans, I may have to postpone getting married and seeing parents back home after a long time. I understand CIC needs to do their backgrounds checks and for some applicants it may be longer due to their name, country of origin, religion (which is a shame and unfortunate) but at this point if they tell me that your case won't have an update for next two three months, I'd be okay with that cuz then I could at least go on and live my life as I had planned.
