Filed my application in August, sent updated forms in September no word yet. Just wondering if there is any way to bring my Filipino wife to Canada while we wait for the process to happen?
I'm not sure I can wait up to 15 months for a visa, I visit the Philippines every 12-14 weeks for 10 days or so but the travel is killing me.
CIC should have something in place like a bond of some sort and allow your spouse to join you in Canada while the process is on going. Especially now that this seems to be a multi year process to acquire a visa

Yes - there are a few options. She can try applying for a TRV to visit Canada as a tourist. If she can secure a full time job offer in Canada and her employer can obtain an approved LMIA, then a work permit is another option. Lastly, she could look into the student visa stream although this is an extremely expensive option. In all three cases, she will have to convince CIC that she has no plans on remaining in Canada long term. This will be difficult for her to do since you have sponsored her for PR.

Note that it will likely take a lot less than 15 months for her to get her PR visa.

First off, it won't be 15 months unless you have lots of red flags in your relationship background and/or you have an interview. If you have a solid application, you will get PR in 6-8 months. Secondly, yes you can apply a visitor visa for her, it's a bit difficult to be approved but its not impossible, I myself had my wife approved for one.

Visitor visa is a sure rejection. Getting a job while not in Canada - not an easy thing.

I came on student visa , while my application was in process. That seems to be the best way !

Why is visitor visa a sure rejection? And no student visa is not the best way, because it's very expensive, and the applicant still has to prove he/she will return to her country.
