I am applying Outland from the U.S. and would like some advice on the IMM1344 Application to sponsor.
Question 1....Withdraw or Proceed....to be honest, the only concern I have with our application is sponsorship approval. My husband and I are near retirement age, don't have much in savings (both had bad divorces) though my husband will have his U.S. pension and I have a Canadian income. We both do plan on continuing to work when we return to Canada. Any thoughts

Thanks

From what I have read, spousal sponsorship does not have any minimum financial requirement other than you can not be or go on social assistance.

From CIC's website:
"Check 'proceed with the application for permanent residence' if you submit an undertaking of assistance to support the permanent residence application of a family member or close relative on Humanitarian and compassionate considerations."

From my understanding, unless you also qualify under "Humanitarian and compassionate" ground, your application won't be looked at if he doesn't qualify as a sponsor regardless of what box you check. But, if you check withdraw, your fee is reimbursed if that happens.

Hi Guys, just a quick question, in form IMM 5540 Question#5.
If you completed up to Grade 10 in Canada (specifically in B.C) what should we put on the 'Number of years Completed' under the Secondary/High school option? Should it be 3?

Hubby said put 10? but that's including elementary and he is not sure what grade high school starts.
Im not familiar with the grading system in Canada. In my country, elementary is from Grade 1 to 6 then High school (4 yrs) we call it 1st yr to 4th yr and not grade 7, 8 and so forth.

Hope someone can enlighten me. Thank you!

I interpreted this question to mean how many years have been completed in total starting from grade level 1 and so I would put 10 as well.

Hopefully I can re-boot my computer with a clean install. Wooooooo -_-

I'll be happy to follow this thread. We're getting married soon and right now we're just working on gathering "evidence". I just find the whole process extremely intrusive and patronising, so my main problem is going to be leaving the sarcasm out of my answers in the forms ::)

I mentioned to my husband one time that they might want to give him an interview and he asked me what they were going to ask him and so I suggested we practice. The first practice question I gave him was "why did you marry someone so much younger than you" he said 'that's a stupid question' my next question was "why do you love your wife" he said "this is f*cking stupid" and he got up and walked away, practice interview over.

Lol I think you and him are in the same boat. Lol I didn't really find the questions to be very invasive or overly personal, but I know that going into an interview it would cross that line. I tried to give all of the information without being too detailed because it's not going to be me in the interview having to match answers to the application, it'll be my husband, and I doubt that he would know which type of flowers were in my bouquet, you know? Lol

Ha, that sounds just like me. I'm really worried that I won't be able to watch my language/attitude when the time for the interview comes. I even thought of telling the VO something like 'look, don't take it personally if profanity or sarcasm are used during this interview, I know you're doing your job after all, but this is too much', but I guess that won't go down too well anyway.

Hoping there's a slim chance of an interview for us! I wonder if many people applying from the US have experience getting called in for an interview? Since marriage fraud from the US is so rare.

Hello,
I have a question in case of applying inland in quebec, pls answere me if you can!
the whole sponsership package that we send according to checklist, is included with necessary documents for permanent resistance?? if is that right,
So what dose it mean??
(For a sponsored person already residing in Québec: if the sponsored person’s application for permanent residence has not already been submitted, you could send it at the same time as your sponsorship application to the Canadian government. This policy applies only to applications submitted by sponsored spouses and common-law partners.)

the sposership aplication is different from sposered application for PR??? ???

I'm not too knowledgeable on Inland things.. but for Permanent Residence in general, there are two sets of paperwork basically (excluding the MICC - Quebec paperwork).
Sponsor papers (the papers the sponsor will fill out to be determined if eligible)
Principal Applicant papers (papers for the immigrant wanting to apply for permanent residence, aka the person being sponsored)

does this make more sense?

hey all of you! ;D how's everyone doing? we just started completing the forms and we already have questionssss ::)

form imm 1344 the 15 questions where they assess your sponsor eligibility: they say "sponsors who reside in quebec need not complete questions 8,9,10 or 15" .. we intend to live in Quebec. this means my husband should leave those questions blank (unchecked) ? he already answered them ... i wonder if it's such a big deal. i guess if it's so important to leave it unchecked he needs to redo the whole form right (you can't uncheck questions )

what do you think? :)

Its kind of clear, isn't it?
If you are in Quebec, you shouldn't have checked them.
"sponsors who reside in quebec need not complete questions 8,9,10 or 15"
Read well the questions before checking anything, mistakes in the formulary can cause a delay in your process...you dont wanna give them any reason (for minimal that it seems) to return your application!
So, start a new one, download the guide and go question by question no rush.

Good luck, God bless

yeah MaxLet i was thinking the same thing but i feel better asking than wondering after if i made a mistake.

i have another one already :-[ IMM 5406 (additional family info) .. first section: they ask me to provide data about me, my spouse (if applicable), mother & father.. now if my husband is sponsoring me from Canada, wouldn't it make too much sense to add him in this form in the spouse section, right?

also my mother is deceased, how do i handle that? i was thinking of writing 'deceased' in the marrital status box and in the current adress box i'd write date and place of death. what do you think?

You're right my husband is the principal applicant and so I wrote my information under the spouse section. His father is deceased and we wrote deceased under the address section and left marital status blank. On a different form, the schedule A I think, they ask for date and place of death if one of the parents of the PA has passed away.
