anyone ever got PR with less than 6 months left on Passport when already in Canada

Hi, my application has been taking so long that my passport will soon be valid less than 6 months and I thin I heard it need to be valid more than that. The thing is I don't need the visa for landing since I am already in Canada. Just need to flagpole.
Anybody here know of someone who got PR with passport expiring within the next 6 months???
