Hi, I have a couple of question regarding the family sponsorship application.

Our case should be pretty straight forward, I'm a Canadian citizen currently living in Australia and I want to sponsor my Australian husband (spouse) to come and live with me near my family in Quebec, Canada.

We have filled all the forms and are about to send our application but we have a couple of questions first...
When paying the fees, I pay for the sponsorship application ($75) + principal applicant ($475) + spouse ($550) + right of permanent residence ($490) or is the principal applicant my spouse?!

And also, on the sponsored form IMM 0008, they ask when you applied for a CSQ (certificate de selection du Quebec) but in order to apply for a CSQ you need to be first approved by the CIC...so which one do we apply for first?! Why is it so confusing and so hard to get clear answers?!

Let me know if anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks

You pay the $75 + $475 up front. You may also pay the $490 upfront or wait until they ask for it a few months later. Many people say that paying it later may delay your application. The $550 spouse fee is for a situation where the principal applicant has a spouse who also want to immigrate. As a Canadian citizen, you are not immigrating, so this fee does not apply to you.

The IMM 0008 has to cover many types of applications, some of which might have a CSQ in advance, but for a straightforward spousal application like you are doing, you will have to get sponsorship approval before you can apply for the CSQ. Sponsorship approvals are currently taking somewhere around 6 weeks on average. With the sponsorship approval, you will get a letter that must be sent to Quebec with your CSQ application. So, send the complete PR application to Mississauga. You will apply for the CSQ later.

I suggest you to pay the whole fee in order to make it less complicated and no lost time. You send all your application first and they will send you an email (if you accept receive all via email) with a paper to apply for the CSQ. Once u receive your CSQ, you send it to CIC. Hope that would help you.

I agree with Alexandre that it's preferable to send it all at once, so it should come to $1040.
