Its a 2yr course too ... More focus on work exp than course based ..

You sure it is a two year course... there is a person in this thread, who is already in UVic doing MS in CS - Industrial option.. He told it is a one year course..
Can you elaborate your statement... I read everywhere as it is a one year course..

Cool!...
Even I applied for Industrial option, Haven't received any reply yet... I am planning to switch to Course Based though after getting an admit.. Industrial option is a one year course!..

Is that possible? I want to do exactly the same, but I am not sure how can we do that after we get the admission. Please share if you know the procedure. Thanks

seems i answered every question. either everyone is satisfied or scared :)

Hey Shushilsrk,

Is the MSc-Computer Science (Industrial Option) a year course or more?
What is duration of the program written in the admission letter they send

Thanks

if you are in a rush sure you can complete ur masters in 3 terms(any option thesis, course based and industrial) that is 1 year.
here is the thing you have to complete 9 courses and project in industrial option to graduate. So its like 3 courses per term and your project work. Even if you complete your masters in 3 terms you have to pay the fees for 5 terms (rule of university). If you complete your masters in 1 year you will get a work permit for 1 year. So choose wisely

But what is the duration mentioned in the Admission letter? I mean, for what duration we would get Visa for? (Industrial option)

The letter you will get from uvic will have something like this mentioned on it.

--- Course duration September 2016 to September 2017(minimum) or September 2019 maximum.

Sometimes you can get the visa for just 1 year which is not the thing to worry because you can get that renew. What you can do is explain in your SOP or letter of explanation that you have to do 2 terms of co-op hence the course duration will be 2 years and you might get a 2 year visa.

Hi, I have applied to Uni of Victoria for Masters in CS (Industrial Concentration). I am from Pakistan and here is my profile

Undergrad CGPA: 2.978/4.00 (CGPA in last four semesters 3.2/4.00)

What are my chances of admission? Thanks in advance

Has somebody else been accepted or rejected?

I haven't heard from UVic since I applied. And the application status still says Under review by deparment.

I mailed the graduate office and they replied that they would continue to hold files till mid April and if after that the file is not accepted then they will send a rejection e-mail

UVIC is very slow in the admission process.

Yes! And I have not seen a single admission offer except one guy on this forum. I am fearing a mass rejection.. :(

I applied in December 2014 and got admitted in March 2015.
