Hello,

Study permits are issued at the Canadian Point of Entry. So if you're going in August then you will get it in August. The letter you will get now if you apply for study permit isn't in fact a study permit, neither a valid travel document for travel. So if you're from a visa required country, you will also be issued with Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) at same time with the approval for the study permit. So no worries, your study permit will actually be issued when you arrived at the Canadian Port. I hope it clarifies!!
sir
my motive is to clear that if land in august after landing there TRV is issued there with approval of study permit and work permit . after this i have to apply for SIN for working legally . because in new rules it is there student can work from first day .

The new rules will apply to you since you're starting your program in Spetmber 2014. You won't be in Canada as a student before June 1st. Your study permit will automatically entitles you to work according to the new rules. Anyway, that is what I have been told upon enquiries from immigration representatives. But if you still have doubt you may contact the embassy close to you for more information, but I won't advise.

Hello Willyoldfox,

The new law starting from June 1st, 2014 applies to all students with resident permit that will be issued after this date. If you apply now and get approved before or after this date, you only get letter of introduction (LOI) to be submitted at the Point of Entry (POE) in Canada. This LOI isn't a study permit nor a visa. Your study permit will be issued once you arrive in Canada, probably in August for September entry.

However, if you get visa (TRV) and LOI and travel to Canada before June 1st for September intake then you won't reap the benefits of the new rules. Even I suppose it doesn't make sense to travel to Canada before June 1st for September entry if you don't have any aim apart from study. But note that your reason for entry must be for studies only in order to be issued with study permit or else you might be denied entry!!!

Thanks a lot Dok!
I knew about the LOI and actual study permit being issued at the airport in Canada. So there is no reason to wait and just go ahead with the application.
Where and what are you going to study?

Willyoldfox

Hello Willyoldfox,

I've just been issued with SP (precisely LOI) to begin my post graduate degree in September, 2014. You know I was also worrying about this June 1st stuffs, so I made enquiries and got those asurance. I wish you all the best with your visa application. I'm currently in Russia.

in my opinion issue for rejection was... Gap . u are having much gap .

What do you suggest ? I should apply for visa second time? Or just forget about it.

bro try some experienced class program if possible ...like CEC or federal program if are having experience in ur field ..because gap makes ur case less strong .
