I know it’s rare because American’s don’t need a visa to visit, but we’d like the option for my mother to stay for a up to a year if possible. I have her only grandchild and my father passed a few years ago, so we’d like her to be able to spend more time here.

She’s in NY, owns her home and get about $7000 usd a month in pensions, and has $100k in the bank. We make over $100k a year and own our condo. We are a family of 3 so we meet the salary requirements, and can afford the healthcare, plus she can see her regular doctors just across the border.

Anyone in a similar position apply?

It's actually not that unusual. You follow the same process to apply as anyone else.
