Hi, I'm also new here... I'm a 29 y/o housewife, worked as a staff nurse for 1+ years, then became a nurse supervisor for another 1+ years. Decided to quit my job because I'm 8 months pregnant (nahihirapan na kase ako). Took up M.A.N. and will be graduating this April (pero di ako makaka akyat sa stage kase due na ako sa April 8 ). Recently po nakilala namin ang family friend ng husband ko na nasa isang consultation firm sa province namin. To cut the story short eh nagbayad na po ako ng 40K for the assistance fee and 60K for the d/p ng tuition para sa student visa for canada (BC). According to the family friend pwede na daw isabay ang dependent/s pero may assistance fee din na 40k. So my husband and I decided na ako na lang muna mag apply then pag may sure visa nako tska sya/sila apply as dependent/s ko. My question is pwede ba eto? Para makatipid kame sa assistance fee? Kase gusto ko na sila makasama kung sakali and after a year pa daw pwede ang dependents kung hindi isasabay sa application ko ang papers ng family ko... Ganun ba talaga? TY in advance sa magiging sagot nyo. :)

Hi, guys! it's my first time to post but I've been visiting the forum for a while now.

I am presently gathering docs to support my student visa application. I already have an LOA from a Canadian University, plus the proof of financial support from a sibling who is a citizen of Canada. My question is: will my unemployment for the past several months work against my application? My former employer has closed shop and I have not been able to find gainful employment since then. I would appreciate input from you guys. Thanks much.
hi,

I do not think your unemployment of only several months will affect your chances of getting a study permit. Aside from the letter of support and LOA, I think you can just back your application up with a good study plan. It should be alright :)

Good luck!

Can you please give me some tip so I can get my Student visa. I am currently staying here in Dubai and will try my best to apply for my Student permit so I can attend the Jan 2014 class. Thanks. :)
Hi!

two main things to prepare before applying for a study permit: Letter of acceptance from a school, and enough money to fund your education.

First, you need to get admission from your chosen school/institute/university in Canada. I suggest that you apply for studies that is relevant to your current work or your previous educational background, so you won't have much trouble explaining it on your study plan. After getting admissions, you need to prepare enough money to support your education. You may not have the physical money in your bank account, but you need to show the Visa Officers that you have enough support (letter of support, own accounts, scholarships).

you'll have enough time to prepare for it, since you plan to study on winter 2014. Good luck!

hello po!

while it is ok to register in advance, it is not really necessary for study permit application. You just need to show the VO's that you have enough support for one year (about 10k CAD). This can be done by showing them letter of supports, scholarships, own account.

hope it helps! :)

hi there!

Have you already applied for admission to school? because as I read it, you already shelled out about 100k without even having your LOA or even started to apply for your visa. You don't really need to pay that much for assistance. This is the very reason the Canadian Govt Immigration has recently changed their system (online applications, remote visa offices, centralized application schemes etc), to avoid the so-called "money making consultation schemes". I am so sorry for the rant. But, truly, you don't need that much for assistance. You can use that money for your education support.

Anyway, you can come to canada first, and let your dependents join you later. Many have done that without having any troubles.

good luck! :)

Finally got my LOA. Should I apply as early as now for September 2013 intake? What's the average visa processing time around here?

Hi zyzy,

You can submit your TRV application since you have a proof of financial support (letter from inlaws).

Good luck!

hi,

Did you apply for your CSQ within Canada?

Anyway, you are allowed to apply for a study permit while waiting for your immigrant visa. Your pending PR application doesn't have any effect on your study permit application as long as you have proofs to support it. There are:
1) enough funds for your studies
2) solid ties for home country
3) reasonable course of study
4) provide reasonable reasons that you will return after your studies

Good luck, hope this helps!

Hi !

Based on most people's experience, processing time for study permit takes about 3 weeks to 2 months. Some takes even longer, depending on situation (medicals, further docs needed etc). In my case, it took about 4 weeks (not considering the time I waited for the clinic to send my results to CEM).

Now that you have your LOA, I think you can begin your applications, so you would have ample time to prepare for your travel to Canada.

Good luck! :)
