In fairness, so happy nahanap ko itong thread at itong forum. Dami natutulungan. Synder, good luck!
Balitaan mo ako sa Algonquin ha. Hinhintay ko lang decision ng ibang schools then mag decide na kami from there. So far si Alqgonquin palang natatangap ko for LOA. Bka kasi ito talaga gusto ni Lord

I will fly via Toronto because i will take PAL cause my mom works there
Stop over ako dun to visit my uncles then hopefully move up sa May. If Algonquin ka let me know! Baka we can be roomies!
@chinie04 There is a lot of truth dun sa sinabi ni micmic. Kahit sabihin natin na important din makatapos, for us asians higher grades is more important because we are foreigners, grades that are too low jeopardizes your chances for good work because until you have Canadian work experience in your field that will be the basis for jusging you. Also ingat din sa pag susugal ng ganyan. Our economy right now is so unstable with trump and duterte at the helm. Not saying they are bad people, its just that a lot of people are really scared at what could happen. Dati nung nasa nz ako, I knew a lot of people who went home dahil sa change in finances due to the fluctuation of the economy sa nz/home country. Mas maganda na ung work is just a supplement to your living expenses unless you have a spouse who can work full time, or do stuff on a "cash only" basis (if you get what i mean).
Peej, actually I was about to echo the same thing. Pag bago ka lang dont buy brand new cause money trap sila. What micmic said is true and you can actually get a great car from 2000-5000. Pero for me il stick with the 1000 variety until i can afford otherwise :/ but then a car is not my top priority till my internship year because the public transit system daw sa Ottawa is great so dun nalang muna.
General tip from someone who has lived abroad before and seen common filipino mistakes.
Avoid the money traps like:
New car, solo apartments/houses, shopping for branded stuff.
For the housing kasi at least anyway till you get your first job na maganda sweldo, try living with relatives or sharing a house. If you have a family thats another thing, pero as much as posible try to stick to room sharing or basement living (cheaper option than a house). Also try to avoid buying too much furniture because you will be doing a lot of moving and unless you have a car that will be a pain!
My goodness i see this all the time. The worst thing you can do is start buying the expensive stuff agad. Basic economics lang muna. Live within your means but focus on saving because remember if your goal is PR, that costs a fortune lalo na if me family ka (micmic back me up brah haha).
Also try to mingle with the locals just as equally as with the foreign and filipinos. The goal is to integrate as fast as you can. Even for old people you will subconciously dtart picking up the accent as well as the terms and expresions they use. Your english will also improve as well as your confidence to speak the language. Generally kasi ako iwas ako sa pinoy kasi dati sa area namin jusko ang jeje nila and at the same time the whole crab mentality thing. Not saying dont dpeak to Filipinos pero im saying it is a reality and there are some truth to those stories na "kapwa mo filipino din mag susumbong sayo sa immigration."
Lastly never buy anything full priced or brand new unless you absolutely need it. Take advantage of thrift stores like Salvation army or sites like ebay, amazon, Kajiji, Craigslist. Also wait for sales or off season prices oo you might save 1-20 dollars lang per item pero if you buy 10 at 1 dollar savings pwede na pangkain un!
Also another truely lastly na talaga. Dont be hard on yourself, expensive ang first month. Expect to eat out more, stay in hotels more, and just be spending MORE. Just remember that hindi dapat permanent un cause RIP bank account if you forget haha
