HI dk101

yes, my undergrad course back in college here was hotel and restaurant mgt, then after few years, I decided to take masters in business administration here and then another one in UK. but in your case, you are completely taking a different path from accountancy, that doesn't make any sense at all, why don't you go for business administration course, that is more generic as every organization in any field needs how to manage business, it is a safer option.

Haha @mangohorse320 yeah everyone is telling me about that but I am sincerely interested in the hospitality and tourism industry. It would be easy as well to get a business administration course but I'm not enthusiastic about it. I'm hoping to convince the VO that I will be helping out my sponsor to set up and operate a travel agency and events coordination business. I am hoping this would suffice.

im still in dilemma if i should continue my 3 year coop program or skip the coop and just enroll in 2 year non coop program.

tuition fee is damn high, around 14k per year. if i go for the 2 year program, i can save 14k.

My dilemma is that I will be taking a course completely different from what I graduated from. Accountancy to Hospitality, Tourism, and Leisure. You already have a Masters degree noh? But your undergrad is hospitality?
financial management course ni misis,. sa bank din xa nagtrabaho, nag.apply ng tourism management ng College of the Rockies..,talagang unrelated,. then nung april 24 natanggap naman nya ung visa nya. Sa aming experience cguro is Prayers and i think what carried the application to success is the STUDY PLAN. With God nothing is impossible.. God Bless sa lahat ng Applicants.

Hi guys, just want to know if possible ako makapag work dito sa Canada while still in school. I go to Blanche Macdonald (private institution). Possible kaya na maconvert ko yun student visa status ko to work visa? although next year meron na ako intern visa. im not sure lang kng same un sa work visa? thank you.
You can find the list of institutions allow students to work off-campus while studying, pero hindi yata kasama yung Blanche Macdonald school ... I'm not allowed to post links so try searching sa google under this term "List of participating institutions work off campus canada"

There's another page on the CIC website for students under co-op programs /internships, search mo ulit sa google "work as co-op internship student canada"

Thank you sa reply @ iamvenus. I got some ideas on how to go about the application process thanks for this site. I think I am beginning to have clarity and some sort of direction. But there is one thing that holds me back from taking Post grad in hospitality mgt as I have already masters degree in business administration from the Philippines and in the UK and not sure if that would work for my own advantage. I am not sure if taking the post grad is appropriate for me or not. It may raised a red flag on my application of taking a lower course than my 2 masters. Does anyone have the same dilemma?
I think it's the Masters from the UK that might cause a complication? Ano yung circumstances of your study there? and why did you decide to come back to the Philippines ... kasi kung recognized yung degree mo doon as Master's Degree in Canada, they will ask you why you are downgrading to postgrad?

Yung masters naman dito sa atin hindi recognized doon so okay lang talaga postgrad course, but the UK one .... baka may complication. However, I cannot be sure kaya better siguro to talk to a consultant.

---

For full disclosure, I haven't even started my application yet pala. I'm taking the IELTS pa next month and applying to colleges after. Target ko to start studying is Winter term January 2015. I'm not employing a consultant, based sa advice ng mga tao dito :)

WOWWW!! Praise God talaga!! I'm so glad you shared this with me.. Medjo nalulungkot na ako because I really wish to pursue hospitality, tourism, and leisure na course sa George Brown. Sobrang pinagpray ko nga din ung LOA and now that binigay na to ni God, why should I worry about the visa diba? Kung bibigay Nya, lahat lahat talaga. Thank you so much for this encouragement @chakaz :)

Ano pala nilagay niya for the study plan? God bless your trip to Canada! :)

I'll just share my experience with my agency. When I went to them, they offered me their partner schools. They are good schools in Toronto, but they are not related to my course. They are offering me BS Health Management where in I finished BS Medical Technology here. I don't want to study something that would be a waste of time and effort so I searched for a university there in toronto and found one offering a degree which I am really interested in. I compiled all the necessary documents required for my admission in the university and travelled to manila because my agency told me that they would pass my application. When I got there, they informed me that I need the signature of my aunt (who is the card owner since I paid by credit card). So in the end, I went back home and submitted by application on my own.

After a week I got my LOA from the school and started compiling my papers for my student visa. When the time came that we would pass the papers, we went to the agency. They instructed me to acquire managers check of 5600 and 1140ish for my student visa. so I did. Then all I did there is to fill up information on the screen and they printed the forms and told me that they would send it to the canadian embassy. after 20 days, I got impatient since i havent got a text or an email from the vfs aknowledging my application so I called them. The Vfs told me that my managers cheque has a wrong amount and that since february they increased their visa fee ro 6100 pesos. I was shocked and I immediately acquired a new managers cheque and sent a prepaid envelope to vfs. To cut the story short after two days, I received my medical request from the canadian embassy.

It's up to you if you want to hire an agent. Maybe for confidence? but in my case, since I myself searched for a suitable school and I myself filed my application for the school admission, I find it not worth the 65K that I paid. But in fairness to them, I called them many times to ask questions. questions which are also answered here in this forum.

@dbc hows ur medical results? I haven't done mine since I'm still recovering from the cough pa. maybe this thursday. I hope everything is fine.

Finally, I was actually waiting for you to share your experience. I just don't know how to tag you. I don't even know if it's possible. Hahaha!

A lot of people are sick this week. It's maybe because of the weather. I hope you'll get well soon guys!

Oh and yeah! Found out that the increase in student visa fee is for the TRV. Since feb. All issued trv are multiple entry visa. No need to reapply!. Haha and plus you dont need trv if you plan to visit us and go back to canada. Unfortunately, students can only apply as tourist to usa after 6 months of study.

Sorry I just want to clarify what you said.. So if you have a valid canadian SP you do not need to apply for a US tourist visa? Is this correct?

No. Frustratedcanadian. What im saying is that you dont need a canadian trv to go back to canada in case you go to us. When you are in canada as a student and go outside of canada for leisure or go home, you need to present your student visa and canadian trv once you reach the border. But us and canada have a treaty agreement that once you go to us on a valid us visa and decided to go back to canada, you wont need to present your trv.

You see, before february 2014, the trv issued accompanying the student visas are single entry visa. So once you used your trv, you need to reapply in ottawa. You actually dont need a trv to stay in canada, you just need it once you plan to go outside canada. Its like an entry permit. But this february, it changed already since the trv that they are issuing are already multiple entry visa.

Anyway if you are interested to apply for a us tourist visa while you are a student, you need to wait for 6 months if im not mistaken. And you need to present a transcript of your grades and letter from the school. Just check the requirements online.

What some did was to apply for a tourist visa here in the philippines, since they already have a canadian student visa. They got approved. I think it will improve your chances of getting a us visa in the future if you were issued one in the past.

Hope it helps to clear it up :) God bless

hi guys,. just wanna share our experience also, we are from Baguio,. paper-based ung application namin, we did not go through any agency or consultancy(waste of money).. Actualy, when we found this furom that's when we started having interest in going to canada. So ayun, what we did is nagback read kmi sa almost lahat ng mga replies dto ( Re: Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines? ) until naging klaro ang lahat kung ano ang mga importante sa application, mga crucial parts, and mga diskarte na rin. Then we came up with a complete application, we submitted then after 4 motnhs we got the visa, medyo natagalan kasi maraming kapalpakan ung clinic where we did our medical exam.
