I am curious, I recently received an email from Mexico stating that my application is almost complete, and then requested a new medical because it expired the end of January.

How often do they ask for a second medical? Nobody that I know has been asked for another medical. Does anybody know anything about this? Does it actually mean the application is almost complete??

The question that you are makin is already answered in the email that you received from the VO, Just go ahead and redo the medicals
then expect an answer in the next coming weeks after they received the new medicals. Good luck.

What does the the processing time look like now? since they took it off the CIC website and im almost 4 months in.
Now if you go to the CIC Page you would see that the procesin times are 17 months outland,
but thats exactle the time that it took in IN THE PAST To process 80per cent of the aplications
Its vary case to case and it depends if your country visa excmt too, good luck.

The newa at The Hill Times

Mr. McCallum, whose riding has the third-highest percentage of visible minority population at 82 per cent, said that he finds it “abominable” that it takes almost two years for the spousal immigration applications to be processed, and after arriving in Canada, another two years to receive permanent-resident status. He said that his department is working on coming up with plans to speed up the application processing times. Mr. McCallum did not offer a specific target timeframe for reducing the application processing times, but said that it will be brought down “radically.”

I wonder if this is good news.

Canada on track to welcome more than 300,000 newcomers this year
from theglobeandmail.com
news/politics/ottawa-seeks-to-bring-more-than-300000-newcomers-this-year/article29069851/

"Most of the incoming family members – 60,000 – will be spouses and children, while the remaining 20,000 spots are reserved for parents and grandparents"

Hi,
Mississauga received our application back in Jan 30, 2015. Almost 13 months and quickly approaching 17 months.
August of 2015 found out that we were in an interview queue.
Received GCMS almost 2 weeks ago. Saw a due date of March 31, 2016 and ask if interview coming soon. Same old "Please note that for the moment we do not have an exact schedule for interviews."
Also if we are correctly interpreting the GCMS notes, it doesn't look like much work has been done. A lot of "not started" like criminality and security.

Has anyone ever tried some type of communication that might encourage them to move ahead and succeeded.

Does friendly persistent emails in intervasl of 1 per month, help.

Just curious.

unfortunetly, there is nothing you can do except wait.

My husband and I are going thru the same situation as you. We applied December 2014, and also found out in August 2015, that he was getting an interview. We tried numerous times to ask for an estimated date for an interview and we just kept getting the same reply back. They emailed him in January, to advise of his interview in February. He was aproved, but had to redo his medical and get a new police certificate, translated and certified.

It has been 3 weeks since he redid everything, and we still have no movement.

Have you tried applying for a visitor visa? We were successful, my husband was granted a single entry visitor.

Curious to know how many people were interview at the same time and if someone had to be flown in from Mexico.
I guess we'll have to redo things as well.
When did you find out about the redo before or after the interview?

No need for a visitor visa since I have been staying in the DR off and on for 14 months out of the last 18 months
Just home sick and want to get the hell of here.

Good luck with your case.

From what I know, they had interviews for 4 days and maybe 5 a day. In all the emails from Mexico before the interview, they said they were waiting for an agent to travel to Santo Domingo to conduct the interviews.

At the end of the interview, when they said he was approved, they told him he had to redo his medical and would need a new police clearance, but that we had to wait a few days for them to email us with instructions for the medical.

They emailed us 9 days later, with a special document to print and bring to the medical. They requested a new police certificate, translated and certified and mailed to them.

They have ackowledged that they have received my husbands documents but still waiting!

I guess we have to keep in mind that there other types of visas that need interviews as well.

Stupid that you had to wait for another email with special instructions.
Why can't they give it to you right away so that you can take care of it the same day.
That way you don't have to travel again to the capital or at least reduce the trips.

Do they have a suggestion box. ;D

I sure you'll get good news. Must be frustrating seeing many people who apply after you get it first.
If they would be more informative with their logic or lack of it would be easier on people's life and on decisions that we have to make during the wait.

They emailed my husband a form to bring to the medical, it had a barcode on it and when the doctor scanned it, he printed off some pages and started asking my husband the exact same questions that he was asked during his interview!

It has been a long process for sure, and it is hard to see other people getting their approvals.
My husband was approved at the interview, but it's hard waiting, they still haven't even asked for his passport yet. They finally emailed yesterday to say they have received the requested documents and that our file is in line for review.. soooo frustrating! Especially when I know of people who redid medical after us and are getting their PPR! so frustrating!!!

It's quiet in here lately! Anybody still waiting from 2014 and early 2015? And how are the late 2015 and 2016 applicants doing? And how are the ones who's spouses that recently landed doing? I wish those still waiting speedy processing!
