How did you guys decide to use the VAC in santo Domingo as oppose to ups or Dhl? Just curious?
Also looking for an opinion here. We are trying to plan my winter trip for January and part of February. My mother usually travels down to DR this time of year as well. With this in mind, she wants to book a unit as we usually stay all together for winter vacation, but I'm hesitant to extend the vacation past the 4h of February as that when my husband medical expires and I'm hoping that his visa, PR, and passport will be ready to go by then and then he can just come home with me. Is this completely unrealistic?? February would be the 11monrh mark for us. We haven't received AOR2 yet but our ECAS says they started our application on August 25. Am I crazy to believe that my husband could potentially travel back with me at the beginning for February??? Thoughts...
It was more a factor of reassurance more than anything, as I've had bad experience dealing with couriers on my own when it comes to my application. Plus, it's government to government mail, so it's given special priority. Plus, they provided us with a tracking number.
As for your other question, like SB414 said, you never know, my application took exactly 11 months since arriving in Mississauga in Oct. 2014, and that's not including receiving the passport back. Why don't you book an open ticket or just book until feb 4th? Either way, by then you will know if hubby is coming back with you and sometimes medicals are extended to allow room for landing. It all depends on the vo dealing with your file. I wish I could give you better advice, but it seems late 2014 applicants (Oct., Nov., Dec.) are the ones in for the long haul, so I can only imagine what they are going to do with 2015 applicants. I hope you hear something soon, it makes all the difference when you're planning travel. Me and hubby decided he will land Jan. 1, start the New Year off with a bang, and it gives me time to prepare, plus I already booked travel to DR for the Christmas holidays, so everything is working out perfectly for us. I really hope you get a holiday visa surprise as well.
