OMG! I received PPR last week! I've been so busy, I didn't post to the forums yet, plus we're trying to keep it low key for now and also because he needs to get his passport renewed. He did it on Monday and we are sending it off on Friday. So our journey is almost complete. I won't be completely satisfied until we get it.

Lala that is awesome, congratulations!!!

your wife is dominican right? Yes you do! Send them an email notifying them of the pregnancy! Hopefully she gets her visa before she gives birth, if she give birth there, then the child will need to be added to the application! This happened to a friend of mine a few months back! You defintly have to notify them once the child is born if the visa hasn't been issued, but I would update the file, as my friend did, because there was a case of a woman being refused pr once she landed because she did not declare the pregnancy beforehand

oh for sure! We sent it out on Friday through the VAC in Santo Domingo! We paid just under $3000 pesos! They said it will take about 2 to 4 weeks to get it back!

How did you guys decide to use the VAC in santo Domingo as oppose to ups or Dhl? Just curious?

Also looking for an opinion here. We are trying to plan my winter trip for January and part of February. My mother usually travels down to DR this time of year as well. With this in mind, she wants to book a unit as we usually stay all together for winter vacation, but I'm hesitant to extend the vacation past the 4h of February as that when my husband medical expires and I'm hoping that his visa, PR, and passport will be ready to go by then and then he can just come home with me. Is this completely unrealistic?? February would be the 11monrh mark for us. We haven't received AOR2 yet but our ECAS says they started our application on August 25. Am I crazy to believe that my husband could potentially travel back with me at the beginning for February??? Thoughts...

It's so hard to say!
11 months sounds like it could be realistic.. but you just never know with immigration.
You can always order your notes and see what has been done so far, if anything!
I don't think this whole new "in process" thing means much. Ours changed to in process a month ago, and says they began processing it in March.. the same day we received AOR2 from Santo Domingo.

was it 3000 pesos for one way? or for both ways total?

It was more a factor of reassurance more than anything, as I've had bad experience dealing with couriers on my own when it comes to my application. Plus, it's government to government mail, so it's given special priority. Plus, they provided us with a tracking number.

As for your other question, like SB414 said, you never know, my application took exactly 11 months since arriving in Mississauga in Oct. 2014, and that's not including receiving the passport back. Why don't you book an open ticket or just book until feb 4th? Either way, by then you will know if hubby is coming back with you and sometimes medicals are extended to allow room for landing. It all depends on the vo dealing with your file. I wish I could give you better advice, but it seems late 2014 applicants (Oct., Nov., Dec.) are the ones in for the long haul, so I can only imagine what they are going to do with 2015 applicants. I hope you hear something soon, it makes all the difference when you're planning travel. Me and hubby decided he will land Jan. 1, start the New Year off with a bang, and it gives me time to prepare, plus I already booked travel to DR for the Christmas holidays, so everything is working out perfectly for us. I really hope you get a holiday visa surprise as well.

It was 3000 for both ways to Mexico and back to the VAC! We opted to have it delivered back to the VAC, because I just don't trust the DR postal system. If we wanted it delivered to his home, we would of had to include the prepaid airway bill. We just thought it would be easier if they notified us to go back and pick it up when it arrives. I'd rather him spend the day traveliing to SD then wait for it to arrive at his home.

wow!!! that's really good to know!!! When our time comes, I think I will tell my husband to use the VAC! sounds a lot more reliable for sure!

is there a website with info for the VAC?
