Any side-effects to not declaring dependent spouse work experience?

In our application for immigration to Canada, my spouse is the primary applicant and I am the dependent. I don't have any work experience in Canada and all my experience has been in the USA. Currently we are in the process of filling in the express entry profile. Since there are no points for my work experience outside Canada, reading many posts I am strongly leaning towards not mentioning my work experience (in USA) in my express entry profile to keep things simple for me and the visa officer. A thought just came to me, will the VISA officer want to see the legal status in the country we are living in? If so, then I would have to submit my H1B information, which would suggest I am working in the USA, so kind of misleading to my express entry profile. Just want to take full care before submitting my express entry profile as no going back once I do it. Just wanted another affirmation that not putting any of my work experience will not have any negative effects later on. Thank you.

I'd suggest you to show your work experience and all the relevant details. Please, show all the correct details. Do not hide or mislead the officer. If, they put you up for screening, your case might get rejected or in worst cases even you getting banned from application for sometime.

Please, show your work experience and all the details to keep it simple.

Thank you. If I am not claiming any points for my work, would just pay stubs suffice or must I get a letter from my employer too. Was trying to avoid approaching my employer for letter, hope no issues with that.

Of course you need the letter from the employer and also pay stubs. The documentation remains the same for both the applicants in the application. Only, the points differ. Please, add all the relevant documents or else they can ask you for it later on. It would take much longer than expected then.

It is absolutely fine to not show any non-Canadian work experience for dependent under "Work Experience" tab in EE profile. Once you get an ITA, in the PR application (e-APR), you can show your experience under Personal History section and in the LOE, mention that it is not put under Work History as it is not fetching any points for you. A lot of people (including myself) have done this/are doing this so as the unnecessary reference letter paperwork can be avoided. Believe me, even the Visa Officer will be happy not to process unnecessary documentation. Tagging some senior members so that they can comment/add anything necessary.

No proof is needed for any work ex shown in personal history. So if not claiming points it makes sense to move it to personal history.

Thank you. This was my initial thought reading various posts.
