Hi Alex, we are planning to live in Toronto so far. Unless we get a job offer from other cities/provinces before we land (which is unlikely to happen I guess :))

Hello fellow comrades 8)

Hello All! I am go glad to see that this thread is still active - I have been caught up in many things lately and haven't checked in here as much! How is everyone doing? Any exciting updates? ;)

Hi guys, I have some news.

I received my second GCMS notes about a week ago. They checked my work experience, which I was worried about since I claimed some part-time experience during doing my master degree. Turned out that experience is OK, so I got my 3+ years. My eligibility was "Recommend pass" whatever this means.
And yesterday my BG changed to In Progress. Eagerly waiting for the golden email soon :)

Congratulations, IcedCoffee!! Was your part-time experience part of your educational program? I did two paid full-time internships in the U.S., while in grad school, and also worked for my university. I am now wondering whether they will count towards my work experience. Do you have any advice? I haven't put them in MyCIC yet.

No, this wasn't a part of my studies, just a regular job. I continued to work at that company after I graduated.
I guess you can claim this experience if it was a paid job and if you were qualified enough to perform it. They have a question in the application, something like "when did you become qualified for the job?". So in my case I had become qualified after obtaining a bachelor's degree, since it is a requirement for my NOC 2174.
But you better read the official instructions before you rely on your part-time experience http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/mi/express-entry.asp

Do not confuse Canadian work experience with foreign work experience - they have different approaches for part-time work during studies.

Thanks. This helps. Nobody was able to clarify it for me so far. Technically, it was an internship and I was performing this job while being a full-time MASTERS student, but on a summer break. Hopefully, a lawyer will be able to give me an answer.

Do you by any chance know what happens once I hit three years of full-time experience? Will the system update my score automatically? I'm about four months short to get extra 25 points for three+ years of experience.

Unfortunately, I can't say for sure. But it usually updates scores automatically after a person's birth day. So possibly it calculates work experience as well. I believe it should.

Thank you, IcedCoffee! Fingers crossed. I'm pretty sure, I will be in the same batch of PPRs as you ;)

I hope so too :) And I want to believe it will be another rain for us at least the next week. It becomes almost impossible to wait when it comes closer to 6 months!

@IcedCoffee @div almost there! best of luck to you both! the home stretch is always the worst.
