Actually - we've seen two cases on this forum where people arrived very early (2-3 months in advance) and were to go back home and come back closer to the start of classes. CIC was worried they were coming early to work illegally.

@scylla
U have said the right...there are many people came back from canada because of this entry related issue..now immigration is strict on this subject and will not allow students to enter the country more that one month prior....exceptions can happen...but this is the rule...

Well I am flying 21st Nov, hope it won't be a problem.

a month in ahead of start date isn't a problem at all. I know people who landed three months ahead and got the entry, though they were asked questions about their early landing. indeed working illegally was one of the question for landing so much in advance.

Thanks yeah, comforting to know that. Any Idea what the repercussions are if I am not carrying my Uni acceptance letter with me?

It's one of the documents CIC says you must have when you arrive in Canada.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-arriving.asp

This page also states: "You may not be allowed into Canada if any of your documents are missing or if any of the information on your application or letters of reference is incorrect."

So it's possible you may not be allowed into Canada without the letter - or they might let you in. Impossible to say. But you should avoid the risk and have the letter with you.

Hello! How was your early landing? Any specific questions made by the border agent?
I'm planning to arrive in Quebec 4 months before starting the college class (fall: august/2017). I think that if I have the proof of funds, this should not have problem. I'll get the W-1 (OWP) and my wife the S-1 (student permit).
Thanks in advance!

others will correct me but you will not be able to start any work that early before the linked study permit becomes active
