Any one who applied to Buffalo in may and got their visas???

So, the consulate finally bothered replying to my incessant emails/faxes today. Apparently, they approved and mailed my passport back on June 27 via regular mail....even though I provided them with a $50 UPS return label.

Does anybody know how long approximately it takes to deliver mail to Toronto from Buffalo?

i got it in 2 days thru Canadapost return envelope(the one that they asked us to send)

I got my visa stamped within 1 month.
Buffalo visa office.

Yeah...I managed to speak to a human being at the consulate finally. They mailed it from Fort Erie, and according to Canada Post, it might take up to 4 business days. Hopefully i'll get it on Monday.

Would've taken me less time to walk to Fort Erie and pick it up myself. :/

My application was recieved at Fort Erie by May 31. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get a visa by this month. Please!

in case if you have to make a query about your application do we need to mail them on the email address on buffalo counsellate or web enquiry ? My application was recieved on May 17th but i still didnt hear from them ?

I am in the bad situation as well because canada post tracking showing item delayed since june 22nd and buffalo nt replying to mails.
So i would be grateful if you could tell me how to get hold of some one from the counsellate so i know if my passwports were processed from there or still not as Canada post Didnt deliver me yet though work has been resumed.

Couple of specific question regarding forms

For question 7 on Current country of residence. What should I write as per my situation.
I was on study permit and now on open work permit of post graduate. However, I am not employed. Should I say I am worker or should I say Other and mention, open work permit.
Secondly what should the ending date of my current residency be? Should it be the date when my work visa is expiring

Question 9. What should the country where applying from be. Canada or USA?. I am in Canada and applying to USA

For Details of Visit to Canada:
I am in Canada. So what should I write planning to stay From this date?

Hi maine17 or others who have successfully applied,
The answer below is super useful, especially question 9. I was going to fill in USA, but will go with your example and put Canada.

Few questions:
1. Did you have to send in your original work permit? and do they safely send it back? Or would a photo copy do?

2. What other originals did you have to send in?

3. I have a work permit for my wife that has her firstname, middlename and lastname , all put together in the last name field as < firstname middlename lastname>
At OHIP office they pointed out it is wrong in the systems. Her last work permit has it right i.e - < lastname, firstname middlename>. Do you think the error on the new work permit will be a problem for visa stamping? Delay to get work permit corrected could prove costly due to my travel dates, but I am debating if there is a risk.

4. I travel abroad on Aug 27, so I am hoping I can send in the form on Monday (july 18) on overnight Fedex and still get it back by Aug 27. Does anyone think it is risky? I am enclosing 2 CanadaPost xpresspost envelopes.

I havent applied yet but it says send copy of work permit not original. See document checklist.
Only original passport should be sent as far as I know.

However, I dont know few answers to my posted questions:

My question 7 is.
What should I write for my status. Student, Worker or Other? I was student but now I have graduated and I am on open work permit. However, I am not working and I cant call myself worker.

For question on Details of Visit: This is separate section on Page 2.
My question is How should I answer "Indicate how long you plan to stay?" What should I fill in for start and end date. I plan to stay from now till at least end of my work permit

MY guesses and opinions:
For 7 - since you have a work permit now, you should select Worker. However if you are a dependant of a Worker on spousal open work permit, then I guess you would still get a visitor visa and you should say Visitor here as well.

For plan to stay - you should put the end date of work permit.

I hope other experiences folks can validate this.
