Hello Everyone :)

First I would like to mention it's an wonderful forum that I was referred by someone to check out regarding Canadian immigration/visa, I'm pretty delighted seeing the amazing peoples here helping out at various prospects. I have recently finished my M.A. at English, of which result is yet to be published within few months & earlier B.A.Hons At English as well. Although my Hon's mark is average due to some unfortunate situations I had gone through, But I expect M.A. mark will be fair. However, I've achieved above 80% marks at 10th & 70% at 12th.
I am considering to pursue a Diploma in Hospitality management & tourism which I am really looking for career. do you consider it is fair choice & what is possibility of getting visa regarding this subject from my previous academic background? I would be very thankful for any other suggestion as well as recommendations .

thank you!

You can expect a refusal. The education you plan to take in Canada makes absolutely no sense in light of your previous education. A diploma is a lower level of education than a bachelor - and you have a masters. Hospitality management and tourism has nothing to do with English.

If you mention your nationality it makes things more clear a bit.

Anyway if you want to change your line of studies all you need to do is that write a convincing SOP. Tell them that you studied English for the love of English but for the sake of career you need to pursue some serious profession which has more opportunities in your country.

It is not necessary that VO will be convinced but still you can give it a shot because many people got visas this way.

Hello syed first thank you brother for your kind response & very helpful advice. I am from Bangladesh & It is really scarce for job/career opportunities for English graduates that I have been facing here since I finished my graduation. I do not think it is late to try something new, I would like to give it a try as you mentioned for serious profession matter which I consider a real need for me. anymore further suggestion I will willingly accept.

Sorry to be upfront but considering your case scenario, it looks like a sure case of rejection.
Better late than Never...
Good Luck

I second that. It's very very difficult to justify the course selection keeping in view your previous qualification.

Apologies if I sound unkind. I guess you came here for a genuine and honest reply and scylla gave you an apt one.

Look for something that shows your career progression. People from countries like us aren't privileged to choose our passion (if there's a genuine one)
unlike first/second world country people who are overlooked by canadian visa process. If you are citizen of these countries and let us say you are an engineer
but passionate to learn ballet dancing in canada;you may get a visa without blink.

Agree with Gymguy. However, its quite rare to even justify that first world countries will get Visa for absolute irrelevance. Second/Third world country people having such passions implies that they are not well established with their present profession in their own country and also the high commission is well aware that second/third world country people apply to Canada with a motive to immigrate. Hence, an engineer inspired by Masterchef wants to apply for a Culinary diploma is a case of sure rejection. Please understand that there are already students who are pursuing these courses from canada and other countries and an irrelevant person out of nowhere in the lot will be left out and shall jeopardize the prospects of the college placements and job opportunities. its high time canadian colleges should grant admissions not for money or filling up seats but to do justice to their course and field of education.

I agree with most of it except the first world country part. There's someone on this forum who got visa for entirely different (to the extent of being highly irrelevant course, I guess he's a mature student as well and maybe from US or Europe, haven't got time to search the post here) course. Infact I wanted to write belly dancing but not sure if there's a course for that;ballet for sure it's there. OP I am talking about got into some sort of art degree and he was an engineer by qualification and profession. Cheers

Also, there are many agents who will give you great examples of how people lived on their passionate dreams of Photography, cooking, dancing and sports even after irrelevant background and how we helped them secure their VISA's, but on ground reality, these are nothing but rubbish claims...They do all this just to lure you of your money and screw your careers.
if you are really passionate about Something, then the Country will be not in your priority list. Doing what you love will matter more than where.
So set your priorities straight:- Passion has no Policies and second thoughts...

Well yes, I am sure there will be a possibility. Think otherwise: Migrating from US to canada is like Choosing Audi over BMW.
Hardly, makes any difference. And I am sure the CHC has certain different set of rules for developed countries like US, France, Germany etc as people would not want to leave their own countries without a genuine reason. These countries are developed enough to live in I would be amazed and startled if I see an Irish, Danish or Australian choosing Canada to immigrate.
Although there are exceptions everywhere... :)
