This is the fastest way for CPC to get in contact with him (otherwise it is by regular post mail). Has he not heard anything at all? Did they send him an "acknowledgement of receipt" (a letter/email that says CPC has received and started to work on the application)?
Every case is different so it is difficult to say what is normal and not normal with the immigration process some times. If you are both really concerned maybe you can try to speak with someone at the CPC call centre - 1-888-242‑2100
We both wrote our email addresses on the forms, but it's very surprising that we haven't heard anything at all and he hasn't receive AOR yet.
Also my husband called CPC call center last week but the officer didn't gave any information at all and just took his contact info and told to check again after 2 weeks! That's why we're going to get nervous.
