I've received my gcms notes today, don't understand it too much but I am waiting for the interview that my husband has next week I wonder if I should attend with my husband ?

I got this email from the MP constituency assistant and he told me since the hold is because of security check there is nothing MP can do and Ankara will not share any security update/info with MP! So that's the end of my hope for MP. Please let me know if anyone else has any luck with MP figuring out what's happening with their application related to security.

We can provide you with the following details about the status of your constituent’s Application to sponsor a spouse living outside Canada:



· The application was received at the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga (CPC-M), Ontario, on May 31, 2016.

· The initial assessment to ensure your constituent meets the eligibility criteria and that the application is complete was finalized on July 28, 2016.

· The responsible office has reviewed the application and documents submitted to determine if your constituent’s spouse meet the eligibility requirements.

o the eligibility requirements assessment has been finalized on September 7, 2016.

· The medical examination results are on file and valid until May 18, 2017 for your constituent’s spouse.

· The criminality verifications are currently valid.

· The security verifications have been in process since October 24, 2016.

· As per our current processing times, it may take up to 9 months to finalize the application. However, processing times indicated on our website are approximate, and can vary with each individual case.

· Your constituent linked their account to their online MyCIC therefore any future correspondence will be sent there and an email will be sent when any updates occur.

· If the application is approved:

o the constituent’s spouse will need to send their passport to the Canadian visa office to obtain the permanent resident visa and

o the officer will issue the Confirmation of Permanent Residence document which your constituent’s spouse will present at the port of entry in order to be granted the status of permanent resident of Canada.

· If the application is refused:

o the officer will send the constituent’s spouse a refusal letter,

o a copy of the refusal letter will also be sent to your constituent including:

§ a letter explaining appeal rights*,

§ a Notice of Appeal*, and

§ instructions to obtain a refund of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee, if it was already paid.

I still have absolutely no news, I called ankara and they said they are really busy with refiugues and interviews, I also am not able to link my account to my cic and I have no idea why? So my due date is march 7 th and I am in a same position as you guys very frustrated and tiered of the whole thing
I hope we get some good news

I think it is a good news that your MP found out everything is in order, and that only the security is awaiting completion. I think it is just matter of time. Be positive. I applied before you and still no news; so you can imagine. But now I know 9 months is an approximate time.

But don't worry; my application was filed mid May so it is long passed and still no news. I don't think anything is wrong.

So when you called Ankara, someone actually picked up the phone?)) they told you they're busy and didn't even try to answer your question?

Not sure about myCIC because I don't use it, but people say you should try a few times and then eventually it will link

Hopefully all of us will get PPR email extremely soon!!!

Like I said before, Ankara is busy with refugees but not our applications. I will try to call them again, if no answer then I am going to see my lawyer. I was told that they can write a letter to VO supervisor to get some answers. I don't believe that we should get stuck forever in security checks.It's just inhuman what they are doing to people.
Hey, I even wrote a letter to Trudou office and they send it to minister of Immigration. I think I will start writing everywhere, if it's needed I will go to press. Enough is enough already.

No matter how much we call they are talking their sweet time for some reason, when i call them , yes they pick up but they don't connect you to visa department, and they don't answer your questions, it will be alright, we just have to wait I guess as hard as it is

I sent an email to the minister as well yesterday Minister@cic.gc.ca addressed at Honorable Ahmed D. Hussen MP. He is a new minister who has recently replaced Minister John McCallum. I got an auto reply saying they are extremely busy and that they will not respond certain emails. I don't hope I will get any reply. How much did you have to pay for the lawyer?

Hi Thank you for updating us about the call.

For MyCIC I suggest you go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp. Then there are two questions, first one is have you submitted an application for PR answer yes, second question is did you submit an application to an office outside of Canada put no. It will take you to a new page. Then select technical difficulty from the drop down menu under type of application enquiry. In your enquiry explain that " my file for spouse sponsorship was received in Mississauga on XXX date and was forwarded to Ankara. I have problem linking my application to myCIC since the beginning. I called Ankara but Ankara is extremely busy. I though someone from the myCIC technical team may be able to help me with solving this issue" Take a print screen of the error message you get or explain why it doesn't work.

I forgot how I linked it but I remember I had problem in the beginning as well. I eventually sent a technical enquiry the way I explained above and could link it even before my file was transferred to Ankara.

I hope this works. But honestly there is not much info in MyCIC. Also in the letter Ankara sent to my MP it says as we have linked our account to myCIC any future correspondence will be sent there and an email will be sent when any updates occur. But we didn't get any alert email for this first general message they posted there but I think we will get email in future! In conclusion if any changes happen you will know from ECAS/MyCIC and email so there is no way you will miss info from Ankara.

I knew since Oct 24th that security is in process. The info they sent to MP are the same I had from GCMS notes. But there should be a time frame. If I know it takes a year for security I can better plan to move in with my husband outside of Canada. Or as least they should not reject visitor or work visa so that our husband can come to Canada and we can live together while they do security.

I am extremely nervous because our medical is valid till May and I have less than 2 months left. What if the security will take another 6 months ?

That may be why my application assignment is due 24 March (which is exactly 5 months from when security started on 24 Oct). I am hoping someone will take a look at my file on March 24th and finalize it. I cannot do anything but to wait for end of March. I hope March passes faster than Feb.
