I sent an email here as well yesterday and received a confirmation that they have received it buy no reply as of yet. It's seems like it's something with the embassy in Amman.i just received another automated reply.. that they received it..

I asked for an update on the status of our file. I doubt they're gonna send me much back on that. It'll probably just be confirmation that our file is still under process and withing the timeframe. I just get this hunch that there's some sort of delay or backlog in the Amman office.

this is the week #6.. i just asked them for any positive updates since we almost passed the number of weeks. but i am sure that they will not answer, at least we tried..

Yes, 2000 cad is really crazy, and add to that the cost of immigrating and settling! Not sure how to manage it :\
Where did you get the April 30 date?
I am not sure what is the end date for this new rule. I checked and cannot find anything. But I suppose if you are flexible on the date, then maybe you can avoid it by waiting until it is over. Now, Trudeau claims that by end of September, all Canadian residents would have been vaccinated. So I suppose drastic measures (like the quarantine rule) will be long gone by then. But nobody knows!
I am currently thinking maybe there is a way to cross the land border from US. This will be very tiring (requires two lay-overs at least), but maybe it is a good way to avoid the 2000 dollar cost and 3-day hotel stay!
First, I am not sure if this would work yet (need to check more). And second, I am contemplating if it is worth all the trouble (esp with the number of Covid cases in the US these days).
