Hello y'all, I'm just someone south of the Canadian border with a Quebecker SO. We've been together for three years this coming May. He's a very good man, and we agreed that it would be easier for me to move there versus him, due to personal matters on his side.

When we marry, I'll start the process to immigrating to Quebec, but the Quebec sub-forum here doesn't seem to include family sponsorship. All of this is very hard for me to wrap my head around, and from what I understand I would do best to have at least $10k in the bank, no debt, and a desirable degree, for starters, to get approved for PR. But, I was wondering if this is really only very true for standard immigrants and if the rules are more or less lax for non-Canadian spouses or for Quebec specifically. I do know their rules are different. Thankfully we're young and feel no rush. I have no interest in gaining citizenship.

Thank you for your time and help.

Hi

You will be immigrating to Canada. The Quebec sub-forum doesn't include family sponsorship because sponsorship is a federal process. Those living in or moving to Quebec have the additional step of applying to the Quebec government for a CSQ but they must still complete the federal process like everyone else.

You don't need $10k in the bank, it doesn't matter if you have debt and it doesn't matter if you have a degree or dropped out in grade 8.
