Is the basic comptia a+ certification enough to possibly get an interview with a Canadian employer? Or will I need much more credentials for them to consider me over a canadian hire. I also have a couple years of tech and customer service experience.

Which is your country of origin? I read you are from America, but which country specifically? For example, citizens from the Mexico would find their experience relevant and also benefit from NAFTA, in the other hand people from Brazil would find it quite difficult to get their experience considered.

I meant the USA, which is part of the NAFTA agreement so it shouldn't require an LMIA?
You can look into the NAFTA LMIA exempt professions:

Comptia A+ is a standard certification recognised across globe as are other vendor certs like the ones from Cisco and Microsoft.
I want to know (genuinely intrigued) as to why these may not be recognised in Canada?

are IT jobs regulated?

I think he was referencing the customer service/IT work experience not being counted from other countries not included in NAFTA, not the certification. Certain kinds of work experience can get you employed much quicker than usual between canada, US, and mexico thanks to NAFTA.

Anerican is still a much better place to find jobs than Canada
Yes, but lifelong wait for PR and citizenship irrespective of skills if someone is from India or China.

Who said they are not recognized? Of course they are. But a cert without Canadian experience is irrelevant.
