A reply from our MP here in Edmonton

Thank you for the information below and I apologize for the late reply. I had spoken to IRCC and was advised the following;
  • File received May 21, 2019
  • Sponsorship approved Aug 19, 2019
  • File sent to New Delhi September 2019
  • File is currently awaiting eligibility
  • Meds vailed till August 25, 2020
  • Security – has not been started
  • Criminality - has not been started

Currently, the Embassy in New Delhi has 2-4 people working and they are extremely backlogged, and only working on files within urgent situations (illness or death of the spouse) . As for the Visitor Visa, I will be honest it is a like hood that she will be denied a visitor visa as her intent is not to visit but to be here with you, Immigration will look at it as Dual Intent (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...esidents/visitors/dual-intent-applicants.html)

Although she can try to apply for a TRV, as long as she can provide enough evidence that she will return home to Nepal after her visit to Canada. She an apply at the nearest VAC office in Kathmandu – once they reopened. https://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/nepal/

NDVO is working with limited staff. IRCC will not accept paper-based temporary visa applications between July 1 and September 30, 2020.
