I have been waiting since March 2012. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long more before we hear back from them.

Hi,

We are in same boat, waiting since Jan 2012, and this system is a joke, doesn't value families.

I totally agree. I am so fedup and frustrated with this whole process already.

soblue ... you had better double check your facts before telling everyone they have another 17 months before they can be united with their spouse!

First of all ... Ottawa has nothing to do with it. After the appeal, your file is sent to the visa office in your spouse's country. Second ... I have never heard of any sponsor being "re-assessed" after the appeal. Maddants has said many times the waiting times that the wait is between 5 and 8 months. My own lawyer has said that.

Be careful what you say here ... many people have been waiting a very long time already.

I think Soblou is right. its a 17 months waiting time. I won an appeal in Nov 2015 and i call CIC 3 times and talked to a very helpful guy and he told me the full processing time after winning an appeal is 17 months. and i was so pissed that we still have to wait for 17 months again even after winning an appeal.

Hey I just want to let you know that I have called Cic today just to ask if you are answer was right but Cic told me that it takes up to 6months to 1year I do not think it would be 17months because that is only for people who is starting a new case for there spouse but what the lady said that medicals and police records are valid till one year most people on this thread is maximum 3 to 8 months after winning apeal but I guess everyone has different case different visa officers so let's see when the waiting game going to end :)

The average I have seen on this forum is 5 to 8 months after winning your appeal. There are a few people who had shorter as well as longer timeline.

You got confirmation letter on Feb 12. Do you mean confirmation that you won the appeal?

I called the CIC 4 times now. I get a different answer each time.

The web site says it is 17 months for a new case. This includes up to 53 days to establish if the sponsor is eligible.

There is no way they will make us wait another 17 months. Just logic says it will be faster. There is no 53 day period ... there is need to review the evidence ... there is no need for an interview. There is just the mechanical final steps to do a medical check and police check ... and issue the visa.

I first applied in Feb 2014. By April I was approved as a sponsor. By June, a VO looked at our case and determined an interview was necessary. In December we had our interview.

That is 10 months from the time I submitted the application. So, take 2 months off for the sponsor eligibilty process. Take another 6 months off for the time waiting for the interview. That means, it really took about 2 months for the VO to take a look at the file after it made it to China.

That is what I expect ... and that is what a lot of us have seen. About 2 to 3 months after the appeal someone re-opens the case and contacts the applicant.
