Sponsorship App sent August 1, 2013. Interview February 2014, denied. Appealed April 1st, 2014, ADR Oct. 30th (Toronto) WON! Asked to submit new forms Jan. 2015.....still sitting waiting, not so patiently!

Here is our time line:

-Applied March 2011

-Denied Oct 2012 (without interview) for misrepresentation

-Appleaded Nov 2012

-Hearing date June 2013 (I arrived in Toronto and they immediately postponed it because the embassy never interviewed my husband before denying him)

-Interview July 2013 (marriage is bona fide but since we were already denied we have to go back to court for the final ruling)

-March 2014 (went to MP to figure out why we don't have a date for the hearing yet. Find out the officer received the email from the embassy but forgot to put us in queue for a new date )

-Aug 26 2014 Hearing

- Oct 2014 APPEAL ALLOWED

-Feb 10 (emailed the embassy asking for an update. They replied within hrs stating they sent us a letter dated Dec 29th for updated forms, medical, police report. All this had to be sent to them by Feb 28th. My husband rushed to take care of this and get everything ready in time)

-Today my husband hand delivered everything to the embassy. The lady that received them told him everything would be looked at on Mon and he should expect PPR and fingerprints in two weeks or so.

Its been a crazy crazy emotional rollercoaster...fingers crossed that nothing else comes up and we get out PPR!

dont worry my case was messed up by embassy for many times & its more than 4 years from the date we applied for the PR... & still waiting for the visa.... god knows all of these.... the embassies are ruining every bodies lives for nothing.......

Hello Vincygirl,

I was wondering if you could provide me with information in regards to the ADR. I'm waiting for a letter to let me know when my ADR will be and I'm trying to get everything ready for it. Did you have a lawyer? What kind of questions was asked? Did you find out at the ADR that you were successful? Any information will help! Thanks in advance :)

We were denied because our marriage was not believed to be genuine. We decided to dump our consultant for the ADR. Gather and send in every thing you can possibly find to support your claim. Pictures, letters anything relevant. They ask questions based on why you were denied so for us they asked about age difference, family issues etc. If your relationship is genuine there is absolutely no reason to hire a lawyer. We were told after the meeting that we won.

Why did they deny? What did they say

The VO who did my interview didnt seem to know anything about my file , i asked in the forms to be contacted in english , and for the interview i chosed Arabic as a language of interview , and they kept contacting in french and the interview too was in french , til i told hi we can talk in english , and he asked me to show him pictures of the wedding cake LOL , i said we had couscous and thats our tradition , and after this he said we wil contact you after 3 weeks and they did contact me saying you can appeal if you chose too because your application was denied cuz they think the relashinship is not genuine , and befoe i forget , i took more documents to the interview and he didnt look at them at all , it seems like he allready made up his mind before the interview , and meanwhile i know another couple who were married sooner than US and without a familly attending the wedding and they got the visa in 5 months .... the VO doesnt look or ck the files at all , they might process some , but they have much more than what they can handle and yet the canadian goverment put trust in them , there is 5700 appeals filed in 2014
they aremaking soo many genuine couples struggle and they need to stop this or have enough workers to make the process time less .

is Unemployment of the sponsored spouse for 11 years is red flag ?

Im sure if you have a genuine reason for it.
it doesnt matter. For female probably less of a problem then male..

Its about male .

Its about male but then my brother is also under 25 year of age so do you think it can still be a red flag and there were no reason for unemployment its basically because he don't want to work .

I dont think it would be a problem.
a friend of mine sponsored her husband and he also had the same situation.
she called the cic toll free number and they told her that these little things dont matter
As long as he explains to the officer he will be willing to work here in canada and not ask anything from the government.
