Hi guys I really need to know if my lawyer is making me fool or not.. Actually I hired a lawyer in $3500 and she filed my appeal but what next after appeal. When we will get to know the date of hearing? Because she said that it took mostly 2 years for a hearing , like really is it true? Plz reply

It all depends if you will get a full hearing or ADR. Full hearing takes a long time but ADR is faster. If your case is straightforward and can be resolved rather quickly IAD will give you ADR.

I was so panic when I saw the decision made online and didn't know where to start until I found this thread. Did you send the appeal by yourself ? Where are you in Canada ?

Did your lawyer handle your case from the start or just for appeal ?

If just for appeal....$3500.00 is fair. Usually they charge more

This amount should cover you being represented at the hearing including preparing you as well. More than likely, it WILL NOT cover after your decision on appeal. They will ask for $$ once again to finish the process. My consultant charged me $1,000.00 to finish the process. It was well worth it since I could not deal with CIC without losing my mind.

If you look at the bigger picture $3500.00 or so is not a lot of money for such an important issue.

yes, the wait time is 2 years or more (28 months for us) Im reading its closer to 30 months now. Best to stay busy during this very difficult time. Best wishes and NEVER GIVE UP !

I did a full hearing 3mths ago ..I was longggg from 8:30 am to 4pm ...1h lunch break

The best thing I did ..when my husband was refused I went back home for almost 2years , quit my job, sold my car, shipped all my belonged
You need to show lot of proof: pictures, affidavit from family friend, facebook pages ...everything

And also speak with your heart, show them that you love ur husband/wife ..bring lot of proof

Wow they really kept you in the court house for a very long time....im praying that me and my wife wont habe to be that long...... did u have witnesses that testify at your full hearing. Would you mind sharing some of the questions they ask you at the full hearing and how was the minister counsel treated you why they was asking you question.

Oh yes it took me the all day ..it was good I spoke with my heart with emotions..I know my husband for long time.
questions were based on our relationship , date , family, future plan,
My husband was only the witness , our family wrote affidavits (20 in total)
The minister counsel was mean ..had attitude, told me that my marriage is to help a long time friend ..I laugh hahaha..I said why I'm going to do that? Quit my job , sold all my stuff and go in the country where there is no almost no job , and go there with my kids? Just to help a long time friend ? No ...sorry it is not me...I love my husband and if the hearing is not approved I will go back in our country and live with him
