That's awesome Torap! I hope to get that feeling soon too.

I have few questions and see if you can help me with.

1. I need to send in the following items: Right of Permanent Residence Fee, Copy of Passport, 2 passport sized photos, a piece of paper with my height and eye color, a copy of the letter. Correct?

2. Do I need to include a self-addressed envelope?

Note: I am exempted to obtain a visa to visit Canada. Therefore, I don't need to send in my original passport.

Help please! Thanks :D

Nico, I'm in the exact same boat as yourself. No need to send in the actual passport. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but why is this the case? Does anyone know?
I need to hold onto my passport in case I don't get my passport back within 5 weeks.

And then what? Perhaps they just send us paperwork back that we take with us to the border at crossing time?

Can anyone supply input on the whole Detroit office vs. Border Crossing differences.

Hey rhare,

If your country is exempt, then you need not send in your original passport to Detroit. This has been stated in the PPR.

The office at Detroit is for stamping the Passport with the Immigrant Visa and to provide us with 'COPR'(Confirmation Of Permanent Residence) which is needed to land as an Immigrant. So, once you send your passport copy to the the Detroit office, they will send you back the COPR.

You are required to produce this COPR at port of entry(place you enter Canada) to complete the landing and then, YOU ARE A PR OF CANADA :P . Hope this clarifies your questions. :)

It does answer my question, thank you!!

Anybody know how long it will take for the result of mandatory background enquiry?

Hi Nico, I think you are supposed to include one as they need to send you the COPR back to you. Does not the PPR have this info ?

Got an email from Ottawa stating they they are ready for visa issuance. What should I do now. Can I go Detroit in person to get it done or do I need to send them through mail. It states I have to even pay RPRF. Your input is appreciated.

the link connects me to page " how to submit an application at the Detroit visa office"

I do know that they will still need to send me the landing paper.

But, I thought this return envelope is meant for returning passport.

I will take your suggestion and still includes an prepaid envelope then.

Thanks.

Hi cecjan.

I just asked the status on my file. I emailed saying that I had completed my medical a month ago. And wanted to know what is the status on it. So relieved.

For those who already received their PPR, congrats! Did your ecas change to "in process" already?
