Hey everyone,

I submitted my GCMS application on April 14th and haven't received any updates yet. I wanted to mention that I've been under a prohibition since October 27, 2023, and I'm still awaiting any updates. I know it typically takes about a month, but I was wondering if there's any way to track the status of the application? They provided me with a temporary tracking number, but I'm not sure how to use it. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
email them with the tracking number and about your GCMS. they should be able to let you know more

its just the number you'll use when referring to that request when following up/emailing with them. that's it. there's not a separate place to actually see the status of the request itself.
i agree

In my case, after the background check was completed, I had a remaining prohibition which took about 6 months to be approved. However, after that hurdle was cleared, everything else progressed smoothly, and all the other steps turned green, except for the ceremony.

Based on my experience, it's possible that your situation might take less time, especially considering that most updates tend to come within the next week or the first month after a milestone like the completion of the background check. However, if you don't receive an update in that timeframe, it might indicate a longer wait ahead.

The processing time can vary depending on the office handling your case. For example, in my case, it was Scarborough.

I truly hope you receive positive news soon. Waiting for updates in such a crucial process can be quite nerve-wracking, and I empathize with how you're feeling. Hang in there, and I'm rooting for your citizenship journey to reach a successful conclusion as soon as possible

Anyone know what this means from GCMS: "Level 1 bf review completed this date. File pending DF removal. File bfd and will be monitored accordingly"? Particularly "File pending DF removal."

not sure but it seems like someone completed an investigation and transferred your file for another review since you still have DF (derogatory flag). Here's what ChatGPT thinks:

In the context of the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) processes, the statement you provided seems to relate to the status and handling of an individual's application. Let's break down the terminology used:

1. **Level 1 bf review completed this date**:
- **Level 1 review**: This likely refers to the initial or preliminary review of the application. It is a standard procedural step where the application is assessed for completeness and basic eligibility.
- **bf**: This could stand for "bring forward," a term used in case management to indicate when an item or file should be reviewed again.
- **Completed this date**: Indicates that this initial review has been finished on the given date.

2. **File pending Derogatory flag removal**:
- **Pending Derogatory flag removal**: This suggests that the applicant's file has a "derogatory flag," which means there is some negative information or concern associated with the file that needs to be addressed or cleared. The file cannot proceed further until this flag is removed.

3. **File bfd**:
- **bfd**: This is likely shorthand for "bring forward date," which is a future date set for the next review or action on the file. It indicates when the file should be revisited or reassessed.

4. **Will be monitored accordingly**:
- Indicates that the file will be actively monitored and followed up according to the established procedures until the issue (derogatory flag) is resolved and the file can move forward in the process.

In summary, the statement means that the initial review of the application has been completed, but the file has a derogatory flag that must be resolved before it can progress. A future date has been set for revisiting the file, and it will be monitored in the meantime to ensure timely follow-up.
