Dear all,

I have landed in Canada in September last year, stayed for a month and came back with the PR card. I joined my work place after coming back. Today, I got a call from my HR department that someone called from Singapore asking about me. Did anyone face this situation after becoming a PR?

Please let me know.

Thank you.

You might be in trouble as you are out of Canada for more than 1 year. answer these questions.

1. Did you have any address in Canada where the can send letters or any documents?
2. Did you open a bank account in Canada?
3. Do you have children?
4. Did you apply for health card?

Dear guys, I need some advice on location. We are a family of three including a son who is going to turn 3 very soon. We are moving to Toronto this May. Which area would be suitable for us keeping in mind good school for our kid? We would also like to rent a place as close as possible to subway since it will take us few months atleast to get a car. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

http://ontario.compareschoolrankings.org/elementary/SchoolsByRankLocationName.aspx

Follow the link to see school rating for GTA. Click on any school and brows through the map to see all school.

If you look for good schools, you might need to live in Bathurst and Eglington intersection or Avenue and Eglington intersection. Apartments on those areas are pretty expensive. You might need to think about living in Markham. But frankly speaking, you don't need to worry about schools untill your kid starts going to junior school. Move to Canada take 1/2 years to know the city and settle a bit down. Then you can decide by yourself, where to move and where not.

I received my VISA as PNP for Manitoba. Guys is there any I can settle in other province. Manitoba is too cold.

You should've think about that before applying. You need to stay for a certain period of time in Manitoba then you can move to any province you like. May be for 3 years. You might find that time in your landing papers.

The passport number is the issue here ! >:(

In case of renewal, new PP is issued with new number (old PP number is also mentioned in it) and both are attached together.

As my PP has only few months validity, I want to finish the renewal issue, before landing in Toronto.
Renewal from High Commission in Ottawa is much expensive then doing it in BD.

So, I'm curious, will there be any problem, if I renew my passport before landing (which has Canadian Immigrant Visa) now?

As long as your new passport carries the old passport number, there shouldn't be any problem. But if possible, do not show your new passport to the immigration in BD. Ask the immigration officer when you land in Canada. They are way more helpful than immigration officers in BD.

thnks for ur valuable in formation.........
one query from me? we r 3 members family. we hv to carry around 18k according to CIC requirements. But i want to carry 12kCAD or Equivalent USDollar by cash and rest 6kCAD or equivalent US dollar by dual currency credit card through endorsing in my passport. so is it acceptable to canadian immigration?

1st of all, forget about what CIC says about money, as you got your visa. You can endorse only USD in your passport. The rest you can carry as cash USD/CAD. No worries.

Hello friends, after a long long time sending a request that me, my husband and 7 months twin are landing toronto next month insaallah, please help us to make a list of important things that need to take from BD, including medicines etc.

Landed on 8th March.

Very bad experience in Dhaka airport but good experience in Toronto. From Bangladesh airport, they threatened that they will not allow me on board because I have 25000 Cad and 11000 USD. All my money was in my bag. When they scanned it showed that there are two packet in my bag. they asked how much money with me and I was truthful to them.At the last monent I was able to manage it with the help of wife's friend who is SP in Bangladesh airport.

My advice to people who are going to bring more money.

1. Hide your money in every possible way.
2. Be prepared to speak false in Dhaka airport.
3.Do not keep all money in a packet.
5. Buy 100 note not 50 note CAD.

I heard it takes around three months to get the health card; you seem to get that pretty soon.
How long it took to get the PR card?

Since I went to Nova Scotia, I got the health card within 5 minutes. It took me 3 weeks to get the PR card.
