1st of all, forget about what CIC says about money, as you got your visa. You can endorse only USD in your passport. The rest you can carry as cash USD/CAD. No worries.

AFAIK, after landing we need a Photo ID card to get various services. So, what options can we avail ?

What about 'Ontario Photo Id' or the 'G1 Driving license', which one is faster & cheaper?

Go for the G1 Driver's License. After passing the written exam (which is pretty simple), you will get the license within 2 weeks. The cost is around 150$, so far i remember. And, it also includes the cost for road test.

Thanks
Debashish

Ontario Photo ID will cost you $35 and will take around a 3 - 4 weeks to receive. Take your BD Passport and CoPR to a Service Ontario location and apply for it. If you have a driving license, you cannot have it though.

Ontario Driving License will cost you $15.75 for each try to pass G1 Knowledge Test and $90.00 for 5-year valid license card. If you want to pay in advance for G2 Road Test, the total fees would stand at $158.25. After you pass the written test and pay the fees, the card will take 2 - 4 weeks to arrive. Add some prep time for the test to pass. However, sooner or later, you will need the driving license.

Thanks Rossei & Mr. Debashish.

The problem with Photo ID is, it should be returned, if I apply for drivers license.
Though it was cheaper, (CAD 35) and the driving license is CAD 58.25 for Class G1 licence package.

http://www.newyouth.ca/daily-life/buses-cars-bikes/how-do-i-get-my-drivers-licence

Is there any other cheaper & quicker alternative for a Photo ID ?
If otherwise, I'll go for the driving license, which is also important in the long run.

Akter vai, yes there is a change in the profile format in MYCIC account. Is that any good news? Can you make any assumption why they are making late even after the medical and RPRF?

just trying to find it out whether this extended status has any positive indication or not....
in fact previously in place of decision made it was written not started... Now it is written in progress... That is why became hopeful ... I guess nothing is positive here as because everyone is getting the same status now... Anyways .......
best wishes for u shana_kabir....thank u for ur response...
I also thought that may be something is going to be happened.......... but this is only a change in the profile format and nothing else (patience to be continued)......
But somehow I feel less frustrated when i see your timeline that there are many others who have been waiting for longer time than me. God bless us.

Dear Seniors,

Need a piece of your valuable advice.

Me, my spouse and 4 yr pld kid are expected to land in Toronto by the end of April, 2017. I have plan to move to Ottawa, 01 week after landing as I have some relatives there. Could you plz suggest me a suitable private Health Insurance Plan inn Canada for the interim 03 month period (before receiving the gov health card)? I would like to buy insurance while still in BD using my FC credit card, as I don't want to spend up my CAD reserve.

Thanx in advance for your cooperation.

Assalamualaikum bros,

I am going to apply for Canada in family class visa. I need help. I am stuck with the background application form. I am fuzzy in filling out the education levels. My SSC exam year is 2008 and HSC is 2010. What should I write in the month and year for them as secondary and college education levels?
Would you please help me out here?

Thanks

আসসালামু আলাইকুম,
The Month is approximate (if you cannot remember the exact exam month),
only the year should be accurate.

I don't understand why you wanna spent money as you have your own passport as valid photo ID. You'll get your PR card within a month. That's a valid photo ID too.

1st thing, if you have relatives in Ottawa, why you are landing in Toronto? Why you don't land Ottawa directly.
2nd thing, why you wanna spend money for health insurance as you are receiving OHIP card within 3 months? You are landing in end of April, means in Spring. So don't worry about getting sick. If you really want some health insurance you need to go through a lot of tests here as you are new in Canada. Spending money on those tests is not a good idea only for three months.

Few landed immigrants advised me to arrange another Photo ID, such as Driving license or Ontario Photo Card, till I receive the PR card.
But it seems all of these would require the same time to get in hand.
I guess I'd have to wait till then.
