Any one have any idea about flying to calgary. If I get transit of 5 hours in USA, do I need any visa for that? I do not want to go out of the airport even a look!! :
How much hazard is waiting for me??!!! :-\

If you dont have US visa, then you will not be able to even get any transit in USA. Please make it very very clear. You will obviously face troubles if you transit in any US cities without US visa regardless of transit time!

Yes the information is real but this is because I am going on Study Permit. On the other hand you are going as FSW. If you kindly answer my query that would be helpful.

First of all you need to open a student file. Then you will show your tuition fees and other fees paper. They will inform you what amount you can carry.
As far I know that IFIC and StanChart opens student files for overseas student but other banks could open student files now.

There is no legal process beside student file as that is the official permit for ur tuition and living expense transfer!...anything beyond that is questionable and banks are not supposed to sell without documents.......Hope this helps

The procedure is get your money go to bank and officially buy 2000 usd on endorsement of your passport. The rest amount you can take is upto 5000 usd cash, which you can buy from any money exchange. And that's it. (More than that, you get caught and they sue you for money laundering, at the airport, and u become famous like Tareq Zia, with pictures in the daily news paper).

So, student file is the only way for long time study plan, ;D......Nivrit n KFH are right.....that's the only way,

Yes, and you can also have the student file from Sonali bank corporate branch, Dilkusha. I did mine from there almost 7 years back, for my 3 years phD program at UK. They issue the permission of the total money required for a year (tuition and living) as the Bangladesh bank law is 2000 usd/ year. If you have this permission (student file) you can even deposit the money directly to your Canada account with a nominal fees from Bangladesh anytime and u also save on the buying rate. Make sure you have the permission for the whole period of your study. You can buy cash from bank, take DD, or TC any format. the rest you can explore from th dedicated branches.

one more thing, BRAC bank does the student file for undergrad studies only, no masters n PhD. They does it at Attaturk ave, banani. I think this is all regarding dollar help, Cheers and maley Bari.

BRAC bank does all type of student file now. (Grad/ Undergrad). I had one when I came to US............but if Anyone wants to buy dollar outside Bank...its on own risk (getting fake notes).....also money exchanges can help.....in place of cash traveler cheques are safe options and gives u better rate

If you go to any bank, they will review your tuition and living expense files or printed website pages. After reviewing your file, they will inform you how much money you can take. they will not let you to bring more money!

If you want to bring more, you can even endorse money (not more than a stipulated amount; it changes off and on; money exchange people can inform you the exact amount)

Other than that, there are some more other ways which are not legal, but students use those. I think after coming here, you will inform all those from your friends!

All the banks can do so (those who open student files). But no CAD. Only USD, never in any other currency. Cheers.......

Bhai,

After 911 (Sep 11), avoid traveling through USA for transit. Since 911, USA has laid down the restriction that any passenger traveling through USA air-space will need a transit visa, even if the passenger is not going to get down from the plane.

Lets say your plane has a scheduled landing via USA to drop-off some passengers & finally arriving in Canada. Even for that you need a USA transit visa, even if you stay INSIDE the plane. The USA authorities keeps track of who is entering & going out of USA soil, using Airlines. The 911 attack was done with airlines by passenger who were inside the plane.

Your airline will not let you enter the plane (at the airport), if they see that you do not have a USA transit visa, even though you may not even get down from the plane.
