Please keep us in your prayers. And congratulations to all who recently got good news like visa, MR or PPR.

Missed a few points....the person inviting his/her parents must meet minimum income requirement as specified in CIC website as LICO or Low Income Cut Off. You also need to buy health insurance valid for at least 1 year with a minimum coverage of CAD 100,000.
Your parents/ In-laws should have some one already over there with that income range, who are inviting/ sponsoring, right?
Or you guys are sponsoring? As far as I recall, some one with social security number, valid address and that minimum income
(Total family income his+hers) with the insurance is required to avail the super visa.
Can you make clear if I am wrong? Regs

Items to declare (Gold ornaments) during the first time entry to Canada.

Dear All,

In the items to declare list during the first time entry as Permanent Resident:

Are you exempted from Canadian TAX for carrying gold ornaments ?

Nearly, all Bangladeshi family has gold ornaments. Is it a good idea for my wife & me to declare them while we are entering Canada, or should we leave them in Bangladesh in a Bank locker?

Could you share about the price?
Have you purchased directly from the airlines or from travel agent?

We have bought from travel agent. Price is 1,07,000 BDT per person( Dhaka to London by Qatar and London to Calgary by Air Canada). Qatar airways offered me the same but I had to pay some extra for the 2nd luggage. IOM offered 1,20,000 BDT. They said they could only provide discount advantage if the destination is toronto or montreal.

We have consulted some others but apparently it was the best I think.

While buying ticket from Qatar Airways please check the airports. There are two at London, One is Heathrow (LHR, and it has 04 terminals) and the other one is Gatwick.
If the transit for Air Canada is in the same terminal no worries, but if someone needs to change terminals or even airports he/she requires transit visa for UK and its hassle
and expensive. I am sure you are already concerned, still make sure its the same airport/ terminal. Regards

Hi Suman Vai,

Thanks for the advise. But, Do I need visa for the terminal change also? The airport is Heathrow, I am sure, but not so sure about the terminal. I have to check. Thanks.

Please suggest me about the goods list. Do you have any idea about, whether I can carry my laptop printer+scanner in cabin luggage?

Yes, you require visa if you need to change terminals. You are allowed to carry a laptop, a camera bag, a purse and a hand luggage (07 Kg) as cabin baggage.
If you are to carry printer/ Scanner you loose your 07 KG allowance. But the issue is in every airport you are bound to go through security checks before boarding
and they get your laptops, purse everything in a separate tray and for you it would be a serious mess and headache. Its not recommended for you. More over the
power supply for Canada is 110 volts totally different than our 240 volts. Why you are planning these to carry along? Probably you can buy cheap from Kijiji or
cgreigslist or e-bay. Regards

In transit through the UK
This section explains how you can transit through the UK when travelling to another country. It also explains the documents that you will need to bring with you.
If you pass through the UK without staying here on the way to another country, this is called 'transiting'.
There are two types of transit through the UK:
• You will transit airside if you arrive on a flight, remain in the arrival lounge of the airport without passing through immigration control, and then depart on another flight from the same airport.
• You will transit landside if you arrive on a flight, pass through immigration control and then leave the UK within 48 hours (or 24 hours if you are travelling under the 'travel without visa' concession).

Do you need a visa to transit airside?
In transit through the UK
You transit the UK airside if you arrive here on a flight, remain in the arrival lounge of the airport without passing through UK immigration control, and then depart on another flight from the same airport.
The UK government operates a DATV system for some countries. These countries are listed under 'More information' below.
You can transit the UK airside without a visa if:
• you are a national of a country that is not in the list below; or
• you are recognised as stateless under the 1954 UN Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons;
• You hold a valid travel document issued by the UK government
• You are a DATV national or recognised as stateless under the 1951 UN Refugee Convention and qualify for the DATV exemption under the 'transit without visa' concession - see under 'More information' below.
If you do not meet any of the above requirements, you must get a direct airside transit visa before you can transit the UK airside.
You cannot transit the UK airside if you are on your way to or from the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

'Transit without visa' concession - DATV exemptions
If you are a national of a country covered by the DATV system, you may be able to transit the UK airside without a visa. To qualify for this exemption:
• you must arrive and depart by air; and
• your onward flight must be confirmed, and must depart within 24 hours; and
• you have proper documentation for your destination, including a visa if necessary.

Additionally, you must hold:
1) a valid entry visa for Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA, and a valid airline ticket for travel via the UK, as part of a journey to or from one of those countries; or
2) a valid airline ticket for travel via the UK as part of a journey from Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA, if you are transiting the UK no more than 6 months after the date when you last entered Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA with a valid entry visa for that country; or
3) a valid USA I-551 permanent resident card issued on or after 21 April 1998; or
4) an expired I-551 permanent resident card issued on or after 21 April 1998, accompanied by an I-797 extension letter issued by the Bureau of Citizenship; or
5) a valid Canadian permanent resident card issued on or after 28 June 2002[/size]; or
6) a valid Australian or New Zealand residence visa; or
7) a valid uniform format category D visa for entry to a state in the European Economic Area (EEA); or
8) a valid uniform format residence permit issued by an EEA state under Council Regulation (EC) number 1030/2002; or
9) a valid UK residence card; or
10) a valid EEA family permit issued by the UK government; or
11) a diplomatic or service passport issued by the People's Republic of China; or
12) a diplomatic or official passport issued by India; or
13) a diplomatic or official passport issued by Vietnam.

I need to change terminals at Heathrow. Can I transit airside?
Posted on August 25, 2012 by ukvisablogowner

Heathrow's terminals are connected by dedicated buses that transport passengers from one terminal to another airside. If your baggage has been checked through to your final destination, you will not have to pass UK immigration control; the buses are part of the airport's internal airside transit system.

If your baggage has not been checked through to your final destination, you will have to pass immigration control to re-check your baggage. It is important therefore to check with your airline whether or not your luggage will be checked through. Some passengers require transit visas to transit UK airports. It is also important therefore to check whether or not you require a transit visa and if so, if you are eligible for the transit visa waiver concession. For more information about transit visas and the UK's transit visa waiver concession, please visit our Airside Transit without Visa Concession page here, and the UKBA website.
