Thanks to both - Sumon Bhai & Badal bhai. Very valuable suggestion on both aspects. This is how we have been benefitted being with this forum. Now decision lies on us. My feeling is, without taking into account what is the cost here & there, i/my wife should get atleast some lesson of driving to grow confidence. Also it may not be easier for my wife to get courage enough over there to rush on learning to drive. Learing driving from here would at least give us some level of confidence to learn again there, considering we know nothing about driving.

Strongly Recommend

As for the driving lessons, I think it will be better to take a short course in Dhaka. And then take a more detailed course in Canada.
From experience, first couple of days, whenever you will enter a vehicle, it will feel wrong, as all the cars are going in to wrong direction. You will need to get used to it. Its not a big problem, it may take couple of days.

But I will strongly recommend getting some-sort of lesson in Dhaka. Not a long course, but a short one. maybe for 2 weeks or so. It should not cost more than 3000Tk. But it will make you more acquainted with the car. Also it will reduce the time of learning in Canada.

Cars are as important as houses and heat in Canada (in most of north America). I think if you live in New york, you wont need a car. Still you have to live close to the downtown/uptown. Many starter job offer you will receive, will say "Applicants without proper permit and transport need NOT apply". You don't need to own a car from day one, but it should be in your list of plans.

AGREED, Strongly Recommend

Just 01 thing to share.

Its recommend to buy the pair of nice snow boots from a good store in Canada, its worth.
You need lot of walking in snow without hurting yourself.
The available Dhaka boots might not be appropriate for cold/ wet weather,
and the Chinese glue will come off , within months and again these are far too heavy to carry along.

One will avail free kitchen utensils from friends or you buy from a yard sale/ Garage sale mate, everyone through these away.

The other thing we missed to add from our adda was about buying bags/ luggage issue:

01. Apartments are usually tight in layout and have box beds unlike Bangladesh (You dont avail space underneath the bed).
02. Carry less suitcases, rather take cartoons with proper wrapping & labels. You can easily through them away and buy again if requires.
03. With 06 suitcases for a family of 03, (plus 03 cabin luggage) you find difficulty in storing these huge suitcases, they are expensive to buy and difficult to accommodate.

Mainul bhai, for toddlers and kindergartens one have 2/3 schooling options within walking distance (Within 1 km usually). They dont have school bus.
Someone has to walk, the problem is in winter. (Though you might have a friend to get your kids to school and back to home during rough days. But you need to pay mate :P. Nothing is free. My sister earns few quids pooling two kids nearby. In summer no worries.)

For higher schools they have transport, meals for day time schooling, but you need to pay.

Just browse Kijiji and craigslist to get idea regarding used vehicles and for so many issues. These are fantastic web sites.

Best regards, Shumon

Dear PQR,
I also bought such suitcase made of waterproof fabric with no stiffener at four corners, which are flat convertible 4 years back from new market. These had been very cheap, 800 taka/pcs with locks and zippers. Very basic. But the capacity had been huge. One can accommodate 25-30 kg comfortably. I hope these are still available. The best thing for these cases are, one can accommodate flatly under bed mattress if required.

Yes, like you said, if not available then cartoons are options. Regards.

Dear respected forum members,

I am planning to move to toronto on 28th july 2013. Those who are planning to move around that time are requested to at least book the ticket immediately. Since, it is summertime, there will be huge rush and very high price. The difference in my booking time and purchasing is to 11000 taka per ticket for adults and taka 8000 per ticket for child.

The data is of turkish airlines.

Same is the situation with other airlines as well.

I double checked the ticketing issue with iom even. The situation is of no difference.:

Iom is having different contracts from different airlines. As per their contract, turkish airlines fare is more than the agent market. So plan in advance, if not buy, at least book your ticket NOW.

And those wish to know more about my market survey, and interested to move on 28th july 2013 may contact me @ 01717660833

I planned. To move on this date keeping a lot of consideration in mind. Please think of it and allow me to be your luckiest co-passanger.

Best regards.

Ur right…I m planning to move at 3rd May through Turkis and already booked my ticket…
