Thats the sad reality. In USA, business graduates only get 1 year work permit after graduation. And it is not extendable. What you have to do to stay in USA with a work visa (h-1) as you are suggesting is - 1.Promote yourself to a position which is h-1 qualified (atleast a manager,supervisor at financial instituition), 2. You are still at the mercy of the company if they want to sponsor you for H-1, because it cost them 5000 bucks, and Sadly J P Morgan has a history of doing very less about it.
SO you see, When i got the job, it was a 6 month contract, and i had only 6 month left on my 1 year study permit.
So i took the best out of it.
I was promoted within 45 days to Quality Control Analyst/Subject Matter Expert from Financial Analyst, but sadly enough, it is still not a qualified enough position, in US immigration eyes, to apply for h-1, let alone if JPMC will agree.
The Supervisor position was coming my way, as my supervisor informed me that in meeting they talked about me. But that would only happen with the hire of some new analyst, and before my time of 6 month was over, they didnt hire new analyst.
Its sad reality dude. But, i got the experience, made connections. I can only hope for best.
I am choosing Canada as it gives me a lot of time to find a job, and since Chase has branches in Canada, I am more confident about having a job.
And then whatever I have to do for immigration.
