Now I have practical experience of landing at Canadian soil.So far I have been listening to different people.
I landed exactly at 16:20 at the Toronto Airport by an Etihad flight.
The experience is very nice.Everybody from flight crew to CBSA officers were extremely helpful and cooperative.
In Bangladesh side nobody asked me how much dollar I am taking. We were very axious about this. Because BD Govt restricts taking FC to outside and there are specific rules regarding it which is somehow not matching to Canada Migration Policy. Canada requires certain amount to bring during 1st landing according to the pricipal applicant's total number of family members. Therefore, everybody is taking money illegally to comply with Canadian requirement.
After landing at Toronto I found it very simple procedure to follow. First a CBSA form declaring certain items to be filled in & signed(it will be supplied at the aircraft). You have to declare the following:
Quote:
I am /are bringing into Canada:
1. Fire arms or other weapons
2. Commercial goods, whether or not for resale
3. Meat/meat products;dairy products;fruits;vegetables;seeds;nuts;plants;animals or their parts/products;cut flowers;soil;wood/wood products;birds;insects
4. Currency and/or monetary instruments of a value totalling CAN$ 10,000 or more.
Unquote
It is written there in the form that under the law, failure to properly declare goods, currency and monetary instruments brought into canada may result in seizure action, monetary penalties and/or criminal prosecution.
So, Bangladeshi immigrants brothers/sisters who will land in future must keep in mind that above items are highly restricted in Canada. So do not bring those items. If you bring those items, you must have to declare that and CBSA officer s will check your luggege and seize the item. If you do not declare then you may go escort free (?) but if caught (probability is 99%, because Canada has the best scanning machine in the world) you may be fined (monetary) or criminal proceeding may start for misdeclaration and your entire process of migration may be at stake. So it is adisable not to bring any of the above listed ITEMs at all.CBSA officers will also ask you about how much money you are carrying with you and in what form but do not physically count those (as far as I have seen). They do not ask for any POF rather they ask for physical fund. So you must carry the required amount in cash, draft or TC as per CIC guideline.
Another CBSA officer will check your COPR and get your sign there and ask for a canadian address so they can send the PR card there. So note down a correct deatail full canadian address before you leave home.
There are certain guest houses who allow you to use their address for this purpose.
I am staying at a guest house named Safehomestay at 5 Lockmere Terrace. They are very good.
