anyone have experience with buying airplane ticket for infant below 2 years old?

Different airlines have different policies often based whether the infant sits on an adults lap or has their own seat or a bulkhead cot. Here are Air Canada’s guidelines as an example

looking at the type of fare makes sense now. i was looking at westjet and china airline both are different where westjet says no fee and china airline says there is a fee. i guess china airline was taking international travel into account. looks like it is safer for me to purchase a ticket for my infant now then risk more stress at check in time. thank you for your help
