AINP - Post graduate!!

I am just a graduate working full time in Alberta on a post grad work permit. I started working around January 2009, and this is my first ever work experience. I have 6 months of experience, so I was wondering if I can apply for the AINP? If so, can I start applying right away as it says in the AINP that I need to wait 6 months .. I have heard nowadays it takes a lot of time to get it? So, how long is it normally taking the entire process to get the PR card ??

15 months? Its not the family stream .. its the International graduate category, to be eligible you need to have a minium 2 years diploma and 6 months experience with a full time offer from a current employer!! So, are u sure 15 months ??

International graduate category is under Employer-Driven Stream in AINP. So the following is the processing time;

Notification (pre-assessment) - Up to two months
Employer assessments - Up to six months
Candidate (Employee) assessments - Up to three months

Total AINP processing time - Up to eleven months

I wonder who would apply for AINP employer-driven stream, if they need 11 months for nomination alone?? lol..

If you have a job offer, why not go for FSW? It may be faster.

The skilled worker? Its the same man .. They both are the same if you check it is said OR to describe them.. Well, I know someone who applied in December and had his medical done in March.. So, 11 months is a bit high tad!!

AINP processing time is 11 months, which means it takes about 1.5 years till you receive PR... (if CIC process completes in half year)

Why don't you just apply for AINP (since you don't have to pay any fee for this step and you are eligible now)? It may take less than 11 months to receive your nomination. If it really takes 11 months, you can just apply for FSW when you have 1 year work experience, and then return your nomination later.

This is just my opinion...

Apply to AINP u mean under the same International graduate category right? I am on a work permit and it ends December 2010!! If I dont get by then that would really be something!! 11 months is too much for International grads to be honest. Amongst the categories this has the least amount of time I think .. 11 months just doesnt seem right!!

Yes, I meant AINP International Graduate Category. And I agree with you, (6 month experience) + (11 month AINP process) + (half year CIC process) is too long for post grads with work permit. But don't you think, if you apply now, you will probably get PR by Dec 2010?

I have another thing in mind.. Like can I apply for FSW now? I mean I might move into another job.. So, for instance I just graduate and I get a job offer am I eligible for FSW?

- I also have a job offer from the employer!!

Hey sharuu, I couldn't send you PM because your inbox was full, but here's my answer;

Waiting is definitely not a good idea. Send email to some immigration lawyers (you don't have to hire a lawyer but free assessment can be useful sometimes) and start collecting your documents for application (both AINP and FSW). Good lawyers spend a couple of days to review your case and qualifications and send you a detailed review, not just a sentence or two. And prepareing application will take two or three weeks and it is stressful.

And I remember FSW takes 6-12 months depending on where you apply, but I'm not sure.
