I am a PhD student and I have been in Canada for more than 2 years now (4 year program). Any idea if extra points will be given to current international students in the new immigration program for 2017?

Apparently, everyone has to keep waiting for when they will announce the specific changes in terms of point distribution. What they have done today is the big picture target for the year in terms of quota for the different streams. So, for EE which is point based, we are yet to see how they will breakdown the points.... Keep on keeping on.

I think you are single and working at Canada.
Upon completion of two years of Canada work experience without spouse will get additional 13 points

One year of Canada exp without spouse = 40 points
Two year of Canada exp without spouse = 53 points

Am I correct?

It's a bug that EE software gives you extra point for counting Dec 2014-Nov 2016 as two years (The actual rule states the two years counts to the date)

I dont think so.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/2016-10-31.asp
Family Spouses, Partners and Children 62,000 66,000 64,000

I think its a separate category with separate targets.

No - you're incorrect.

You either don't understand the feedback you have been given or don't understand how the immigration system works. If someone immigrates through an economic class like FSW and includes their family (spouse and children) as accompanying in their application - their spouse and children are added to the total count of people immigrating through economic streams. They are NOT added to the spouse, partners and children totals. This is a separate immigration stream completely with a completely separate application process.

So what we need to do now?

Reject ITA if you are given one while not entitled to.

If we reject an ITA, will our EE profile still in the pool? or we have to create a new one?

You will go back to the pool, no need to create a new one.

Cheers ;)
