To apply for permanent resident status through the CEC, you need at least one year of full-time experience (or the equivalent in part-time work) as a skilled worker in Canada. Full-time work means at least 30 hours per week. The one-year work experience must have been obtained within the three years preceding the date your CEC application is received.

refer for more details: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/cec.asp

Depends on your work experience... Your qualifying work experience can be no older than 3 years.

You need to meet these requirements to apply under the Canadian Experience Class. You must:

plan to live outside the province of Quebec
have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply,
have gained your experience in Canada with the proper authorization
meet the required language levels needed for your job for each language ability (speaking, reading, writing, and listening).

Hi I was in Cananda since July 2010 and was working as Software Engineer with Scotiabank on behalf of well know software company from India.
My total stay in toronto was from July 2010-Oct 2012.Based on this I want to apply for CEC but not sure as what should be cutoff date I should apply?
Should it oct 2013 or something else

It's been confirmed. Read what has been written. 3 years.

So if you finished your employment, let's say 10th November 2011, you would have until 10th November 2014 to apply.

Actually I've heard you only have one year to apply when leaving your canadian job. The experience however must have been in the last 3 years.

Though someone prove me wrong that would be great but I'm sure you only have one year to apply when leaving your job not 3 years.

Well, forgive me for quoting the CIC website. Have a look at it yourself. "I've heard..." doesn't really help! The website explains who is eligible.

Quote from CIC website: who is eligible

have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply,

You are right. viri needs to apply within 1 year of leaving his job but the required exp. must be within the last 3 years.

viri,
Oct 2013 is your cut off.

Andy, where does it say this?

Nowhere in the CIC website and Operation manual (the new one for 2013) it says you have to apply within 1 year of leaving your job in Canada.

It used to be there before January 25, 2013. But they have removed that specific point ( one year limit) from the eligibility criteria.

According to the CIC website and current Operation manual for CEC you are good to apply until October, 2014

You only have to make sure you have one year full time work experience within 36 months before you apply. Any experience gained before 36 months will not count.

As I thought, the website clearly states within the last 3 years.

You must acquire 12 months of experience within the last 36 months.

That is the requirement, stated in the Act and on the CIC website.

Assuming you worked consequetively (full time) until October 2012, your "cut-off" would be before your last day worked in October 2014.
