Yeah you're right. I'm not sure what to do to check the status of my application. The online tracking information gives very little description like;

Visa application, tracking ID No. ________________ – Your processed passport has been dispatched from the Canada Visa Office ISLAMABAD, on 06/01/2016 to the Canada Visa Application Centre. To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website

The key word here is processed passport, do you think it's ready for pick up? I sent them a email regarding this issue. By the way what is your timeline?

You should get it picked up after 24 hrs when it says dispatched.

Oh she is right dispatched from the Canada Visa Office ISLAMABAD, on 06/01/2016 to the Canada Visa Application Centre means they will call you anytime soon to pick it up

Okay this is extremely annoying. How come it doesn't show the processing times on the CIC website anymore? And if you do a case-specific enquiry for Afghanistan, it directs you to the Islamabad page. WTH

Edit: Sorry, that was only for TRV, travel docs and other applications. Spousal is still via NDVO. But, still annoyed at the fact that it doesn't show processing times. Does anyone know where to find them?

m a dec 8 applicant ..and waiting for a response from ndvo by 18 of january.. if i get any updates then i think it will be obvious tht ndvo is working on dec to feb afghan files too. or else it will mean tht it takes long for background checks of afg applicants. thts wht i think

lol i cant predict, but your app taking too long... send an email to your processing center and let them the know that your application has gone beyond its service standard. it will help for sure. let me know if you want help to structure the letter.

select; family sponsorship and select; who you are sponsoring and click get processing time

new government made changes and now all apps get processed in 17 months i guess no matter where u live
