Hi, as the subject suggests, is it OK to proceed with employer letter without noc code in that, employer says its not mandatory and they cannot mention it. Rest everything is okay. Please advise.

From the checklist:
- "the corresponding National Occupational Classification (NOC) code (if known) "

NOC information is a must in employment letter. Now they also said if known. So it would be a gamble in my opinion.

Did you show your employer a copy of Document checklist? And point out the necessity of NOC?

Noc In the employment letter is not a must . But, Make sure that roles and responsibilities match noc - this is important.

My employer had given letter only with job title and yearly salary details, no job description and NOC code. But on the safer side i had taken a client letter stating my responsibilities and ensured that it matches with my NOC code before submitting to CIC.

So NOC code as such is not important, but if your employer or client has given the roles and responsibilities information, that will help.

I got rejected because I used the wrong NOC code, so I think it's very important to mention that in the letter.

The very important thing is: your duties described in the reference letter should match to the NOC description.
This is common reason for rejection: not correspondence between official NOC description and reference letter.

As for NOC, before (one year ago) they didn't ask to put NOC in the reference letter. My reference letter didn't have NOC, and I got medicals already.
However, now they ask it to put NOC (IF KNOWN)... I think it is better to put, just for the case.
