VISA ISSUED...
05-June-2017
LANDED..........
01-Sep-2017
- Even if you have gotten the visa, only come if you have ample financial resources that will sustain you for the first year. Course load of first semester is more than you can bear and it gets tougher once the winter kicks in. There is no use if you get low gpa and "pass" because job market is very tough in Canada and employers will look at each and every grade starting from fall to your graduation. Right now, the only way to get a good job is through connections in big industries. Start building them the moment you land to Canada. My friend got a job even in this highly competitive job market through connections. An easy way to get connections is ofcourse through relatives. In a recent survey in Canada, it was noted that employers employed 85% of people who they knew about.
If you are coming for MBA or masters in finance then don't bother. Even getting in Rotman commerce or Schulick school of business will not get you a good job. But going back to your home country with a finance degree will surely help you a lot. If you are dead set on immigration then concentrate on US which has many B-schools and good ones at that.
Technical education will of course be beneficial.
Important thing in all of this is ofcourse "getting connections". I myself got a Summer internship in MNP (accounting firm) because my relative helped me there.

For future aspiring Finance graduates, aim for local designations like CGA, CFA, CA or CPA.

If some one has good experience in IT and Project management how will it go for him..........

Thx. for d useful advice.

Information technology. Again, finding a job is hard. And my relative too got a job in IT only because his relative was in the company and he advised him to the boss.
Try enrolling yourself in as many short term IT courses offered in Summer as you can.

Your work experience from your home country won't count so any form of work experience in Canada will be immensely beneficial

Another way to gain fast employment is to look at firms which have the highest number of alumni from your institute. They show great favor to the grads from their institute.
Your University will help you in this matter.
Try getting your hands on local job fairs which are held regularly around February (in Kitchener downtown area)

Is it worth doing one year PG diploma. Is it not possible to get a good job in canada. Its no doubt costly & we are spending lot of money for fulfilling our dream of staying there & have a better standard of living. Even I have to take huge education loan for this purpose.

Is not worth coming there :-\

PG diploma= Very hard. Very hard brother. Like i said, when you land start building connections. Its a battle of survival here. You may find one job but usually you will not be satisfied. The only satisfaction would be your children having a good future so please read reviews of other people before coming. Good luck!

Chartered Accountancy (Canadian one) is the most preferred one followed by CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and then CGA.
If you have a CA from CANADA you will get a job no matter what but there are many requirements for that
You need to get 51 credits from any institute (Talking about Ontario here) then you have to do 3 exams followed by 3 years of practice.

Yeah, Thank you. This sounds definitely reassuring.

Hii aamro

First of all you can call me sister :) I am not married yet & don't have kids. I m trying to make my career. I m about to finish my MASTERS IN COMMERCE in INDIA. Hence it does not make sense to again going for 2 years masters that is why i decided to go for one year PG with specialization in FINANCE ACCOUNTING OR MARKETING.

This is my biggest dream & i ll be spending ample of money for it. Even i have to repay my loan. I m no doubt concerned about all d negative aspect of my career decision. But my heart says go for it.

NO RISK NO GAIN :D
