As we were waiting long time a go you no longer need to apply for off campus work permit after six month, you can now work from day one 20 hr a week if you are enrolled in a full time study starting June 1st.

New regulations for international students finalized coming in June. See the Link.

well I wouldnt say good for all I feel student visa will be more difficult now . They will focus on ur grades a little bit more. Again I am not sure and will know better after june 1st but I think visas will be more difficult to get. Lets see this is just speculation at this point.

But, this is a good thing, it will encourage students to study hard .

yes for genuine students or atleast in my perspective its a good thing. but we will see a lot of rejections i think and colleges will not accept low percentages. its good for good students. Again not sure

I do not want to open a new topic. So I post this news here too:
http://news.ca.msn.com/local/ottawa/skilled-immigrants-to-be-matched-with-vacant-jobs-in-2015-3

The federal government is looking to match skilled immigrants with unfilled jobs, in what it's calling a new "fast and flexible system of economic immigration" it intends to have in place in January 2015.

This new system of immigration would apply to anyone who has put in a bid through one of five immigration programs:

- Federal skilled workers.
- Federal skilled trades.
- Canadian experience class.
- Business class.
- Provincial nominees.

"There are a lot of details missing. We feel that they want to flatter themselves about what they're doing but at the same time when we are asking for details, we have none," said NDP immigration critic Lysanne Blanchette-Lamothe in an interview with CBC News last Thursday.

Well, you still need a SIN which you have to show to your employer within three days of starting your job.

SIN which you have to show to your employer within three days of starting your job.
you can get it within minutes at Service Canada just showing them your SP. You need a NUMBER.
If everything is in order, you will get your Social Insurance Number at the time of your visit and receive your card within 10 business days.

what is the difference? u get SIN first right away when u go to service canada location.....u get the SIN card later in mail after about 10days or so. u can use the SIN number document they give u till u get the SIN card . If u go early morning u can be out of service canada office with a SIN within 15mins .

so this "work from day one" is same as australian rule right?

If you hit your 6 month mark on March 1st, get your college/uni to give you the evn so you can apply for the work permit.
