Hello, I am going to explain this the best I can. My application is now at the point of PA background and checking the relationship. We have been married almost five years to the day today. No kids. I applied outland and am a Canadian citizen. I stated in my application as the sponsor I would return to Canada in August. My app was received June 24th. I am in China with my wife. As summer ended there were limited flights to Canada and I had not received aor yet. I webformed them and told them I was unabe to return due to the virus. Hear no response. December 4th receive aor and in Janaury appproved as sponsor. I know Im allowed to be outland and thats what my file is. My question is now that my application is at the critical process and they may ask my the PA and me to show PROOF of intent to immigrate what should I do? I wrote a letter.in the applicatiom stating my mother was aging and health not so well, I stated also my wife and I want to be closer to my family and also start out life there. But if they request proof what do I do. Do I fly home now when everything is on lockdown to show them ok, I the sponsor have left, do I have my wife open a bank account in Canada now and transfer funds( not sure this can even be done though.) Do I fly home amd rent an apartment with my and my wifes name? Then throw into account how do I get back once we pass, will it be easy to fly back to China and pack and do everything for the final journey to Canada. Will immigration officer give me a hard time demanding hard eveidence of our intent to immigrate? We are 100 percent leaving the moment she passes and we can. I just want a solid plan on how to approach this. Thanks for any SOLID advice. Not to mention we are transferring 3 cats when we leave through a pet company which is costing me alot.

When we applied from Australia we used online job applications, correspondence with real estate agents to find us a home on our return, emails from car dealerships regarding vehicles on our return, emails from my sister to say we could stay with her until we found a house, our joint Canadian bank statements, and flight searches to prove we intended to return.

Sadly for us, even though my husband was offered an incredible job opportunity we didn't get to actually move over yet :( Now with COVID and my job (I work for my State's Health Department on the COVID emergency response) it looks like we won't be moving any time soon.

Good luck with your application.

So do you think a letter from my mother saying we will stay there and transferring some money and setting up an account will be enough proof?

Why don't you transfer the cats on your own? I think you can take them as check-in baggage in AC flights.

My short form thoughts on this: you are overthinking. Relax and wait to see what happens, quietly prepare.

-In covid times, you deciding not to leave employment and your spouse is perfectly understandable; if you get asked about why you didn't depart when originally planned, that's the entire answer needed.

-I don't think it's useful or necessary to send them additional information in the interim _unless_ you have something concrete and specific to provide them - only strong example I can suggest would be getting an actual job in Canada (or arriving there).

-There are _occasional_ reports here of citizens-abroad sponsoring and getting asked for more information. They are not common (although of course difficult to determine in what percent). So if your original app was decent in this area, chances are there will be no questions at all.

-Slowly, carefully continue to prepare for stuff in Canada. Whatever it may be - job search, minor stuff, schooling for your spouse, health insurance quotes, whatever. Even if it seems trivial it may show good intent when the time comes. Save correspondence and the like just in case. Even correspondence with friends and family asking about things will be better than nothing. Preps for your cats is obviously a real thing so keep that too.

-As backup, you can prepare to be ready to depart yourself before your spouse if you feel the only way to demonstrate your return to Canada is ... by actually returning. (And/or quit your current job in China etc).

But again: by no means in all cases do they request this, covid is a real factor and they will likely show some understanding of this, and just prepare quietly. Chances are good that there will not be additional requests for information, and if there are, that you can deal with it.

Thanks a lot. Appreciate it. I have been keeping emails from the pet company. Yah I just want to be organized. I also think they would understand the circumstance with covid and me having to leave, enter Canada and return to get her. I just really hope its smooth and I dont get the run around prove this, show this, do this. I just hope for simple pre arrival, dm, ppr, copr and back to Canada. Thanks, again.

Regarding the bank account and transfer of funds, I don't think that's necessary at this point in time, if it was there before you applied that's great but doing it now after the app is in process won't have an effect. Both @armoured and myself applied the same way, living and applying outland and neither of us had problems. As has been stated, having a record of looking for jobs, a place to live, letters of support from relatives etc. will hopefully suffice. Do you still have a bank account here of your own, drivers license etc.? those are all proof of your ties to Canada which is good. They don't expect you to have rented a house or bought property here, they just want to see that you have a credible plan and funds to support the two of you until you can get settled and find jobs here.

Thanks for the reply. When we applied we sent in three bank accounts from China Two in my name and one in mine. They were notarized and translated. They showed the running balance from the passed year. I have passed as the sponsor. I also said we would.be staying with my mom upon completion. I dont have a bank account in Canada right now, and neither does my wife. She has never been. We have been married five years to the day today. No kids, I did say in my letters I will likely return to real estate and my wife will take a job and possibly go back to school after a year or so. You mentioned you applied outland. Do you have any tips or any roadblocks you see for us. I really appreciate your help. I have so much to do and move when this all happens, we are just trying to be prepared as possible. Another thing we always worry about which I stressed in a letter.was joint accounts. China doesnt allow joint bank accounts, and my apartment is rented through.my employment. So I couldnt get names on both. I did explain this. I also showed my deposits going into her account for the passed year. I explained the apartment situation and showed it in my contract of employment as well. I even added a photo one.of the twenty allowed of us standing.with the apartment door open and theu could see the apartment number. Your thoughts, welcomed.

I don't think you have to worry about the issues like lack of joint bank accounts, or apartment rented by employer, etc. (Might be more of an issue if applying common law). You are not the first to have such minor issues, lots of countries don't have joint bank accounts. But on the surface of what you've stated above, it seems a straigthforward app (couples married five years living together are usually not in the high risk category - that would be a long con indeed).

Relax and just adjust that it will take a while - hopefully not so long. There is not much you can do with IRCC until you hear from them.

Work on the things you can to prepare for your move (I know hard when you don't know timing). I don't know about bank accounts in Canada or transfers eg of your savings from China. That might be an inconvenience in Canada, esp transferring from China if you're not physically there. Other stuff as above.

Understood. I cant explain enough how bad we cant wait to leave. I have been hearing that many apps heading to Beijing and HK to speed up the processing. I would love to be in Canada within my one year mark. Also Armoured what comes after the transfer is all goes smooth what would be next?
